So much potential…
Revisado: 05-08-25
I love LitRPG purely because every single story has oceans of potential. You can do almost anything and explain it away as an aspect of the system, add almost any creature and use whatever combinations and you can make it work. Unfortunately authors like this one seem to think LitRPGs need to follow a very specific path. Instead of using the entire ocean of potential to cause strife and conflict with the main character, like every other author in this genre, Cassius seems to believe the best main character is an idiot main character. You could probably combine the iq of every main character in this entire genre of books and you may get a normal result. If you want generic characters with absolutely no effort put in then this is your book. But you can’t convince me that authors put in love and care when they fall back on the easiest methods to write. If you expect the reader to completely shut off their brain to follow your book not because it’s complex but because it’s stupid, then you need to rewrite your book.

Summoned to a world in the midst of apocalypse, Daniel Black would have his hands full just staying alive. Add in refugees, desperate soldiers, scheming nobles and a pair of thoroughly wicked witches, and life is going to be very busy indeed. Good thing he has magic of his own to even the scales. But will even that be enough?

Usually a voice actor enhances the book and brings it to life.
Revisado: 05-07-25
Between the utter lack of emotion, the atrocious female voices, and the VAs inability to pronounce simple words, I couldn’t even pay attention to the story itself. If your books setting is in the middle of Ragnarock I feel like learning how to pronounce the event itself is an important step. Coupled with pronouncing Scion as “skeeyeon” it’s quite obvious the voice actor put only the bare minimum effort in. I’ll read it on ku but I have to drop it on here

Idk why but a EVERY SINGLE book with a decent main character, the female love interest has a past of rape. EVERY SINGLE ONE. It’s probably the absolute worst trope imaginable solely due to the fact that the same 5 dumbass men make the trope and then turn the female with a history of being raped into a sex object.

Historia
Ash led a very normal life by his own standards. Right up until he was literally pulled into a portal that spat him out into another world. One that was full of martial arts. And martial artists who could use magic. Three years of living his life as one of the citizens, those without power, and Ash has figured out how to survive with his adoptive family and a lot of persistence. His goals in life have become to give back to those who gave to him. And he’d do whatever he had to to do that. Except Ash is about to get his life turned around again.

The main character is just… bad. Absolutely zero ambition, goals, self confidence, sense of worth, grit, literally any redeeming features really. Between constantly giving away literally everything he possesses at every possible opportunity and then acting like he’s the one that’s suddenly incurred a massive debt and the constant simping over everyone, it’s only overshadowed by the absolute stupidity shown by the supporting characters. At every instance the mc is supporting someone, they immediately demand for more and the main character just folds. By the way, last time I checked when someone is in a very unfavorable position and may possibly be raped at any moment, they don’t immediately start making baseless accusations towards the only people willing to help them. And then there’s Jia or however you spell her name. Arguably the worst character in the entire series. She forces herself into situations involving the mc, is actively encouraged in doing so, ignores the main characters feelings regarding them being equals just to prove a point. The consequences of her actions? 2 and a half minutes of not being treated special. That’s it. She says sorry and it’s all back to before. An entire book. 0 character development. It could be argued that each character regress compared to where they are attempting to be. The female characters went from being independent to looking for handouts and freebies. The mc went from having a goal to just drifting and procrastinating.

Does this author even know what he’s supposed to be writing?
Revisado: 04-30-25
Absolutely none of this series makes a lick of sense. One second our main character is just standing around watching innocent people be raped and murdered and goes into a monologue about how little he cares about people but the moment someone threatens him for literally 0 reasons he immediately decides that they matter and decides to protect them? He hates mages but at literally every opportunity he tries to work with them. He spends every moment complaining about humanity and how selfish and evil they are, yet the moment he sees someone who seems better than that he just leaves them to die miserably but will immediately jump in to protect a rapist. He talks how he can ignore their crimes for their strength yet contradicts himself at every single opportunity. Couple the complete contradiction that is the main character with every other character having a total of 4 brain cells collectively, and I couldn’t get through this at all. I finally dropped the book when our never before seen genius of a main character acknowledged that he has a massive flaw in his fighting style that 2 enemies so far have exploited, spends the entire first book and most of the second to work on said flaw, gets almost there, and decides to give up, freeing an enemy even stronger than his original enemy in order to save himself some effort after the chapter before he was mocking a man for complacency. The author turned a potentially interesting story into this slop to justify his own torture and rape fetish.

Earth as Riven knew it has merged with Zazir and Elhisterii to form the post-apocalyptic creation of the Elysium known as Panu. Here, errant goblins and vulnerable elves battle it out, ungodly monsters spawn like crazy, suicide zombies run wild, and the streets are strewn with human remains. On a mission to find his sister, Allie—out there somewhere battling her own demons—Riven quickly learns that every time he kills his bloodlust only increases, bringing him ever closer to becoming a full-blown harbinger of doom. But maybe a vampiric hero is just what this mad new world needs.

Came for a dark lord mc. Got a whiny idiot who actively seeks people who will take advantage of him because of his own useless sense of morality. Not every main character has to be the knight in shining armor. You can make a bad guy I promise you won’t go to jail my dude. Instead we get a guy who saves everyone he meets, gets used and lied to constantly by those he saves, yet still feels a constant responsibility to protect And save them.

Massive let down.
Revisado: 04-06-25
Heath miller is about the only tolerable thing about this book. Made it about 10 chapters before it became obvious what kind of book we have here. A main character with 100000000000 unique advantages, yet an author who immediately nerfs the main character and makes the main character complain about it for entire books at a time.

Historia
Ashlock wakes in the courtyard of a demonic sect... as a tree. A tree that eats people. An odd start to a new life. Almost as strange as the humans flying through the skies on flaming swords and challenging the heavens. After all, this is a world where humans could chase the goal of immortality through the art of cultivation. But Ashlock is merely a sapling in a desolate courtyard, left alone with his thoughts and unable to speak to those passing him by. Unless he does something about it.

Historia
All Jiran wants to do is delve ever deeper into the depths of density and mana—the cornerstones of the magic that permeates his world. Unfortunately, his powers have grown far beyond what anyone could have foreseen. His mentors, unable to shelter him from those who seek to abuse his knowledge, have chosen to flee and whisked him away to the far corner of the empire. Their efforts are futile, as there are omnipotent forces at play beyond their comprehension. To them, Jiran simply stands out too much, and like the proverbial nail, he’s about to discover that Madra is the mother of all hammers.

Great concept.. abysmal execution. Don’t waste your credit or your time.
Revisado: 03-21-25
I spent about 3/4 of the past two books in this series having to explain away every action and interaction, saying that it’s just a book so it’s book logic. From the 500 year old teacher refusing to teach an 8 year old the basics until the 8 year old can tell the teacher the secrets of the world, to a main character that acts 30 years old one minute, and within the exact same paragraph will act 5 years old. From the weakest overpowered main character known to man to the most redundant side characters I’ve ever read about. By about half way through the book I found myself skipping everything that wasn’t absolutely necessary to the story because every interaction and character monologue is garbage. Between the excessive simping, the constant complaining and whining, the main character that has absolutely 0 agency. In addition to allll of that garbage, you take a main character who has 100000000 reasons for his strength, and yet he is inferior to his girlfriend because she’s pretty? Trash.
