I was nobody. No matter how hard I tried, I never fit in with anyone at my high school. Now I know why. Turns out I'm a witch. A scary powerful one, too. Except The Coven that claimed me won't teach me how to use my magic. Suddenly, I'm selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I'm drawn to him on a level I can't explain...and he's forbidden from getting too close to me.

Amazingly good, very intense, fabulous world!
Revisado: 03-30-24
I usually go for fantasy/sci fi where the kick butt heroine falls for the alien/vampire/angel/shifter person and every other scene is steamy and or lots of adult mind games/mistrust. Nalini Singh, Dianne Duvall, Thea Harrison, Suzanne Wright, Molly Harper, JR Ward….these are my favorite authors…and I’m adding Chandelle LaVaun!!!
This world, these people, wow just wow!!! I guess it would qualify for young adult books because it focuses on 16-18 year olds who have magic and while there is a lot of tortured love, there aren’t any graphic steamy scenes….but man I didn’t miss them. The sexual tension was built to the point it was even better than a steamy scene! Forbidden love, soul mates, magic, big bad demons….heck yeah! I downloaded all four of the collection packages. I got 40 hours of nail bitting, world building perfection for a single credit….wow. I barely worked, I lost sleep, this series sucked me in immediately and held me through all four collections of Elemental Magic, academy magic, school of magical arts and Fae Magic.
I’m middle aged and I am very impressed with this series. It clicks all the boxes and some boxes I didn’t even know to hope for!
Highly recommended! Great value, great world, great humor! Only complaint is that it was hard to keep up with who was talking. There are a lot of characters, maybe it was too hard to do that many ways of talking. It doesn’t ruin the books it just made them confusing at parts. I’m going to listen to them all again now!

Fresh story that allowed us to visit old friends
Revisado: 11-05-23
First, I am happy I bought this book. However, Buffy is so iconic and I’m also an avid audible book listener, so I’m going to be a harsh critic.
The story was great and totally in line with the Buffy Universe.
The actors (all original from the series) who played Drusilla, Spike and Cordelia were absolutely amazing!!!! While I didn’t have anything to compare the new slayer to, I found the writing to be just the right amount of snark for a new slayer and the actor was fantastic.
Now the bad:
The other voice actors didn’t really sound like their old selves all the time. Perhaps it was age, time, lack of motivation…I don’t know…so that was rather disappointing. Also, the “book” didn’t read like a book, it read like a screen play. I imagine this is what it is like to watch an episode of Buffy while blind. I had no idea who was throwing punches or talking half the time, which made it very confusing. There was no third person references, it read like a script.
Overall, it was great to hear a totally new and original plot from the Buffy Universe. I think it was fantastic that they got the original actors to voice their original characters, I just wish there was a narrator in there too to tell us who was saying what or who was in the room. I would definitely buy another book in this series, but I do hope they clean it up for audio listeners and not a screenplay or turn it into a cartoon so we could see who was doing what.

Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, "Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us - the most loved of all dragons?" No! For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence, as well as my innate humility. Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer. So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call the Beast.

Um, huh?
Revisado: 09-21-18
They changed narrators which was a huge problem for me. Matthew didn’t sound sexy he sounded like a bumbling oaf, as did Marcus. Isabo didn’t even sound French, ugh!
There was also no plot. It was a stream of thought book. While I enjoyed visiting this world it wasn’t the same. No thrills, no suspense, just some of Marcus’s story. Really, what I thought would be the exciting times were glanced over...New Orleans, first days as a vampire, the Indians that helped Mathew reign in Marcus, all glossed over. Yet we spend the whole book jumping back to phoebe’s first 90 days.
Overall it was worth it to visit with old literary friends but it wasn’t a good addition to the series, or even really part of it.

Producer was horrible!
Revisado: 08-12-18
This book sounded like someone recorded the narrator in an echoing room. This was compounded by MULTIPLE repeat sentences throughout the book. I’m grateful there wasn’t repeat paragraphs, but wow, been awhile since I’ve heard a recording this bad.
Narrator was good, the story continues for Nox, Harper, and baby Asher. All our favorite characters were there, and some new ones. Many moments of “wow, can’t believe that just happened” as usual. Great book and narrator, producer needs to be fired.

Historia
Consoling a sobbing dragon and serving pig buffets are just part of the job for Myrna Banks. Working for a mediation firm, it's her job to get humans compensated for damages caused by the dragons who now rule. But her "typical" day is interrupted by Trian Chobardan, an old flame. He's been sent by North America's reigning dragon lord for help negotiating a truce to avert war. Myrna agrees to help, even though she'll be stuck with Trian as a partner. As the two work together, Myrna finds Trian to be surprisingly supportive - and still irresistibly attractive.

Funny and cute, interesting world
Revisado: 02-25-18
I’ve read my fair share of shifter books, this one is unique. This book is set in a world post WWIII. In an effort to cure cancer a scientist spliced some genes together, cured cancer, and the assistant put the test tubes in an incinerator, three years later dragons were born in that incinerator.
Not everyone can understand the dragons, only special humans can. Those humans are usually hired as translators. Every now and then after all a dragon might accidentally eat a cow or a person and someone has to handle those issues.
Fascinating world, cute and funny. Not a whole lot of angst or drama...unless you count hiding under tables and beds from the ticked off dragons. This was an easy Sunday book. I recommend it. 4 stars instead of 5 because it was so easy going and there was barely any steam or cussing....which I rather enjoy in my books.

Revisado: 12-28-17
It's a nice little paranormal romance. There is a bar called Boston Uncomon where vampires, werewolves, shifters...etc can hang out and mingle. They don't usually hang out so it's a nice place.
Brandy is a human who works there, and Nick is a werewolf. This is their story and it's funny and sweet and a tad hot. Overall it was wonderful and I'm downloading the next one right away!
Narrator was okay but some voices sounded like other voices and some were over the top.

What's the Devil to do when his fire no longer burns away his sins and Fate is screwing with his...well, fate? Easy - lie, cheat, steal, and dictate my questionably accurate autobiography-slash-romance-novel to my unwilling and outstandingly rude Vampyre niece. Welcome to my Hell. A mysterious darkness is gunning for me and this time it might prevail. Traveling to Earth to promote my best-selling romance novel at an alarming book convention where I must protect my privates from the rabid lady readers is enough to frighten even the Devil.

Chicks sounded a bit male, and it's a cliffhanger
Revisado: 11-27-17
Okay, maybe I am a bit twisted, but I adored ALL of these books. I seriously bought 1-9 in a span of about 2 weeks. I could NOT get enough! The absurd things that come out of these characters mouths is not only funny, blasphemous, outlandish, idiotic and something downright horrible, they crack me up in the best way! I told my co-workers about these books and they just couldn't believe it, then I read them the pitch from the audible website and they bent over laughing so hard they begged me to stop talking. These books are AWESOME! If you love book 1 just download all of them.

P.S. I was a bit ticked this was a cliffhanger, sort of. The relationship wasn't resolved, there was no HEA, but you can be sure I will gladly purchase all the other books when they come out.

My name is Venus. I'm a 200-year old killing machine and I'm trading in my daggers and sword for a sparkly dress and an obscene swimsuit. Tiny strips of Lycra are not my typical battle wear, but when in Oklahoma... Armed with a fairly decent attitude, two debatably heterosexual insane old ladies, a woman I'd wanted to kill less than eight hours ago, and the possible love of my undead life, I'm in over my head with this. Of course I have no clue what this is going to entail, but that's never stopped me before.

What do you get when you combine a three-headed monster named Charles; a rotund, gay, dancing Demon named Doug; a culinary disaster baked by Mother Nature; a celibate premarital councilor named Jeff; an offer from Satan that's impossible to refuse; and Steve Perry? You get the royal wedding from hell - or, to be more accurate, possibly in hell. All I want to do is marry the Vampyre of my dreams, with my closest friends and family in attendance. Yep, I know nuptials in the undead world are unheard of, but I'm still hanging on to my humanity if only by a thread.
