Historia
Ninety-one-year-old Gretel Fernsby has lived in the same well-to-do mansion block in London for decades. She lives a quiet, comfortable life, despite her deeply disturbing, dark past. She doesn’t talk about her escape from Nazi Germany at age 12. She doesn’t talk about the grim post-war years in France with her mother. Most of all, she doesn’t talk about her father, who was the commandant of one of the Reich’s most notorious extermination camps. All The Broken Places moves between Gretel’s girlhood in Germany to present-day London as a woman haunted by the past.

Very engaging, lots of themes throughout book
Revisado: 05-01-25
Allot of deep themes intertwined through the book. The story was very engaging and well knitted together.
Choices & positions we take on obscene realities shapes us to accept or repel.. or are we a combination of both?
I loved the book, couldn’t put it down.

Historia
The New York Times best-selling true story of an all-American girl and a boy from Zimbabwe and the letter that changed both of their lives forever. It started as an assignment. Everyone in Caitlin's class wrote to an unknown student somewhere in a distant place. Martin was lucky to even receive a pen-pal letter. There were only 10 letters, and 50 kids in his class. But he was the top student, so he got the first one. That letter was the beginning of a correspondence that spanned six years and changed two lives.

Really enjoyed this read. The story well written and encompassing many aspects of a dreadful tragedy. Our amazing spirit in answering the call for being needed in war. The slow recovery and the never ending friendships that shared so much.

Dreary
Revisado: 07-23-24
I honestly loved Brooklyn and wish the story had just been left there. Long Island is a dreary crawl through a very uninteresting and unappealing map.. I felt it was trying to be something really interesting. When there was nothing there then to top it off there was no ending.
Im very much a glass, half full kind of girl and look to find the positive line in everything but I would definitely not waste time on this book.
