Historia
As the war begins, Hanna Rombauer, a young German woman, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle after her mother’s death. Thrown into a life of luxury she never expected, Hanna soon finds herself unwillingly matched with an SS officer twenty years her senior. The independence that her mother lovingly fostered in her is considered highly inappropriate as the future wife of an up-and-coming officer and she is sent to a “bride school.” There, in a posh villa on the outskirts of town, Hanna is taught how to be a “proper” German wife.

Clara would have been a great character to develop and for the reader to know more. The first part of the book was great, the rest was just whatever. Didn’t even want to know how it ends.

The story is great and so beautiful in the terror of the war. I didn’t know this author before listening to this book and I will read/listen to more of her work. So well written, I don’t think I can explain with words how great the overall is great. I highly recommend.

It was the day that changed everything. When the Nazis came and broke into our home. Destroyed everything that was safe for us. They took our home and our security. I thought it couldn’t get worse. But then they also took my sister. After that day nothing was the same again. I thought I’d never see her again. I thought she was lost to me forever. Why the endless repetition?????!!!
Revisado: 09-30-24
We reader aren’t dumb, stop repeating the same things over and over and over and over… this is so annoying. The story is ok but makes it terrible to read or listen because of how it is written. No one edited this?

Hard to read/listen
Revisado: 09-20-24
The repeated (not once but 1000 times) descriptions is so annoying. The protagonists are beyond stupid, it’s not youth, it’s pure stupidity and it gets into my nerves. I am reluctantly finishing it.
No one edited this? Half of the book should have been deleted. The story is good, very disappointed.
