Historia
Taken from writings, orations, and recorded observations of life, this audiobook selects the best of Native American wisdom and distills it to its essence in short, digestible quotes - perhaps even more timely now than when they were first written. In addition to the short passages, this edition includes the complete "Soul of an Indian", as well as other writings by Ohiyesa (Charles Alexander Eastman), one of the great interpreters of American Indian thought, and three great speeches by Chiefs Joseph, Seattle, and Red Jacket.

Almost hypnotic
Revisado: 03-20-23
The narrator was perfectly chosen for this. A joy to listen to. This book is a collection of speeches given by various American Indians. The content was sometimes sad, sometimes happy, but it always has a poetry and rhythm to it that is almost hypnotic. If you’re a student of American Indian history and culture, this is a must

Historia
From the horseback days of the Old West through the gangster days of the 1930s, Hamer stood on the front lines of some of the most important and exciting periods in American history. He participated in the Bandit War of 1915, survived the climactic gunfight in the last blood feud of the Old West, battled the Mexican Revolution's spillover across the border, protected African Americans from lynch mobs and the Ku Klux Klan, and ran down gangsters, bootleggers, and Communists.

Texas treasure
Revisado: 01-25-23
The book was well researched and stayed in a timeline very well. The author gave dates, times, and sources of where the facts were derived. It was also entertaining.
The narrator was poorly chosen, in my opinion. His “impersonation” of Frank Hamer was terrible. Every time he would change the pitch and tone of his voice to do it, I silently wished for a narrator with at least a southern drawl. Overall, though, it was good, factual history that any Texas history buff will surely enjoy.

Great story, horrible narration.
Revisado: 08-01-22
I had to slow the speed down to be able to tolerate listening to this one. The fact that she mispronounced SC towns repeatedly was nerve racking. I did love the story line.
