Historia
Corin Cadence has been summoned to meet with the Emerald Council, a political summit including the most powerful of all attuned and their closest political allies. His summons came with a dire warning—that war was coming to the nation of Valia. While Valia is no stranger to warfare, the circumstances of this invasion are dire. Valia's visage, Tenjin, remains missing. Many of the nation's leaders were slain during Mizuchi's attack, and others killed or injured through Saffron's machinations. With a critical power vacuum in Valia's leadership, few can be trusted.

Not great, but worth the listen
Revisado: 04-25-25
To be honest, i only enjoyed about 1/3rd of the book. Corin was done badly. The other characters constantly talk down to him and act like things are his fault when they are not. He reacts to events in ways I find extremely regressive to how he handled similar issues in the previous books. Only the last 1/5th of the book was truly good and maintained the expected character interactions that treated Corin cproperly in consistancy. I will say events at that points made it worth the wait to get there from the rest of the book.

A mixed experience.
Revisado: 01-24-25
The first two books in this series were enjoyable, however I cant say I fully enjoyed this addition, or that I will continue the series.
Many important series impacting choices that are made do not fit the characters, its almost like AI was used, or the author decided to make the characters do whatever, regardless of the characters he built up, how they think - or act.
The series is turning into a harem. The vast majority of main characters are female and every single one of them has to hit on the main character. The whole thing with Ceila is absurd.
The cliffhagers are bad. I can understand cliffhangers, but they are extremely overused in this series and do not benefit the story, or make me want to rush to the next book.

Historia
After battling the hyenas, Eric gets a notification that something called a Place of Power has been found. That is the only clue that might help him get back to his native world. But there's a problem. The system needs mana to calculate a route. Eric simply doesn't have any, and he doesn't know when he will. That is because, due to the strange laws this world lives by, Eric's mana supply isn't filling up. But the Great System also exists here, though its laws are only partially functioning.

Deeply Flawed - but still interesting.

Overall, this installment and the series is good. I enjoy the MC's continued growth, both in power and in mentality. However, the author fails to write muti dimensional female characters. They all have the same personality and their relevance is only in how they affect the MC. The romance is truly cringe worthy, I honestly would have preferred it was skipped entirely. The overall story interests me enough, that so far, I'm willing to power through it.

Not for John Lee. His search for answers for the System Quest has taken him deep into the Forbidden Zone, into the very arms of his enemies. He's betrayed family and friends and been betrayed in turn. The most powerful human in the System has come to the final leg of his journey. And still, he has no idea if what he will find will fill the burning need within him. For the Redeemer of the Dead will not stop, until the cries of the lost and the sacrificed are answered.

All the feels
Revisado: 04-26-23
I re-listened to the whole series in preparation for the finale and I am extremely conflicted. I can't say that I am happy with the ending, but that does not mean it was an inappropriate ending.
All of the main characters are so muti dimensional that the ending makes sense story wise, I just wish there was more to it, it kinda felt sudden and rushed towards the end, but even that makes some sense given the characters.
All in all, I just was not ready to end this series, the fact that I am so invested displays the great job done on this series.

Historia
The Academy of Chaenbalu has stood against magic for centuries. Hidden from the world, acting from the shadows, it trains its students to detect and retrieve magic artifacts, which it jealously guards from the misuse of others. Because magic is dangerous: Something that heals can also harm, and a power that aids one person may destroy another. Of the academy’s many students, only the most skilled can become Avatars - warrior thieves, capable of infiltrating the most heavily guarded vaults - and only the most determined can be trusted to resist the lure of magic.

Horrible MC
Revisado: 04-27-22
Main character is an entitled kid, who claims he is an adult and thinks himself clever, however spends nearly ALL of his energy sabotaging himself and thinking about a girl. ALL of his motivation are about this girl, who he has barely any contact with and has maybe a paragraph of lines.
The writing tries to make the main character seem smart, clever, and capable, but his thoughts and actions show his complete immaturity and irresponsibility.
it's an honest shame, because the story itself is quite good, has great story building as well, however the MC is just as important as those elements, and it's a failure.

With unforgettable characters, a sweeping backdrop, and passionate storytelling, this is a fantasy debut to rival that of Robert Jordan. Filled with adventure and bloodshed, pageantry and piracy, mystery and menace, Assassin's Apprentice is the story of a royal house and the young man who is destined to chart its course through tempests of change.

Amazing Epic
Revisado: 12-13-21
I have listened to this entire series and it's amazing. First thing you need to be aware of is that it's a slow burn. While listening to this series, your following the life of characters spanning many books, it's truly an experience and comforting. It's so immersive and vast without being completely overwhelming. Amazingly, the book does include some LGBT+ representation. I wish more was done with it, but some is better than none. I recommend this series for those who'd like their next comfort series, looking for a vast epic that will take a very long time to complete entirely and when it's done, question if you'll ever find another series like it.
