Funny, sweet, steamy, and GREAT mystery!

I did not figure out the "bad guy" until maybe ten minutes before the reveal scene, and that's impressive!

Excellent narration.
Very sexy, Aidan Snow is insane.
Literal LOL kind of witty banter and great zingers.
Really cool paranormal world-building, these witches, wolves, vamps, and grims have interesting nuances to their powers; how the paranormal underworld operates in plain sight is really fun.
Sweet, genuine romance with such a great pay off.

This book is a blast, I'm definitely getting the next one in the series and sticking with it, I love all the side characters already, especially the sisters!!

Pure and Enduring Romantic Love encased in a tale of loss, intrigue, suspicion, fear and possible murder.

Ms. Holt wrote this first book (1960) at a time when anything more than a kiss on the mouth was considered “almost” scandalous. I first read it in the late 1960’s when as a young girl it evoked thoughts and dreams of the perfect man and enduring love.

The book is written from the perspective of her heroine, Miss Leigh, Marty, Martha or as the Master of Mellyn calls her: “My Dear Miss Leigh. Through her eyes we see the world, as most of us would, as we leave the comfort of our homes. Journey to an unknown destination and job in an exotic locale. Scared, hopeful, longing, anxious, excited, eager, and determined. But most of all desperately seeking “love”.

Ms. Holt became a master of romantic intrigue. All her novels were thoroughly researched as to locale and historic influences. To this day, I can envision Cornwall, it’s people, history, cities, architecture. I can taste the pasties she writes of and be very happy that I now have a smart phone to translate those Cornish words.

To those of you who enjoy the steamy novels that have become so popular, take a break and reawaken those feelings that do not need explicit scenes to make you remember what it’s like to be a young girl again. In that you’ll look at the world a new and long for the next Audiobook of Ms. Holt’s.

Perfect follow up to the William Wallace series!

Strong and brave FMC, enthralling and badass FMC, set in the Scottish war for independence with admirable historical accuracy.

I loved this story! I read (and listened) to this book directly following Amy Jarecki's William Wallace series and this followed the timeline perfectly.

I didn't realize at first the The Black Douglas was an actual historical knight, but once again Jarecki has done an incredible job of weaving historical fact and fiction to deliver one hell of a compelling and fun story.

Love love love this narrator and will follow him to other author's works once I've exhausted Jarecki's audible offerings.

Excellent Story, narration! Steam, love, intrigue!

Another smash hit from Grace Calloway. This regency romance has steam and intrigue in perfect amounts. A witty, brave heroine and dashing, forthright hero fall in love as they solve a mystery.

Violet is an excellent FMC. She's hilarious, clever, bold, innocent yet alluring, and knows her own mind.

Richard is the kind of MMC I can really appreciate. He's strong, stoic, misunderstood, and hiding tons of raw passion under his upright exterior. Swoon!!

I love the way these two opposites attract and come to know and appreciate one another.

I laughed out loud so many times during this book. The passion is off the charts, and I love the cozy setting of a house party!!

This entire series is excellent, I had been awaiting Violet's turn and this did not disappoint in any way!!

Amazing start to a new series!! Loved it!!

Steamy, exciting, fun, heartwarming, swoonworthy!! All the frippery of regency romances with the intrigue of James Bond, or rather, ahem, Charlie's Angels.

I think some of the other reviews are from readers who don't like any steam in the HRs. If you don't want to hear passionate lovemaking, this isn't the book, series, or author for you.

Grace Calloway writes delicious, sweet, titillating, incredibly passionate and very tasteful sex scenes that truly capture the magic of the intimacy in joining two people meant for one another. The steam is plentiful without being gratuitous.

Olivia is not insipid!! She is bold, brave, clever, and lives life with a heart full of childlike excitement and a spirit that refuses to be dulled by the confines of polite society. She was voted most stubborn, I mean determined, debutante after all.

The Duke is a tender-hearted Dominant who's been wounded soul deep by his past. He is reluctant, but he is also strong enough to fight for what he can't deny he wants.

The Society of Angels is a brilliant premise for the series and I cannot wait for more books to come to audio!!

Marian Hussey is an excellent narrator. Her unique voices for the various characters, male and female alike, and her stellar pronunciation bring the story to vivid life.

Overall, excellent!!!

Loving this series, cannot wait for more!!

The second book in Grace Calloway's newest spinoff does not disappoint in any way. Steamy, exciting, intriguing, heartwarming, funny, and compelling. It's regency James Bond with toe-curling romance.

NO SPOILERS:

I want to meet the Prince of Larks, what a dreamy MMC. He's brave, smart, handsome, dashing, kind, and thoughtful.

Pippa is a wonderful FMC. She's the perfect balance of brave and gentle, she's smart, compassionate, talented, and delivers utter kindness and stands her ground. Calloway has mastered the art of writing compelling and realistic heroines whom readers can only love.

I really can't wait for the next book to come to audio.

Marian Hussey did an excellent job!!! She's one of the few regency narrators who doesn't flub pronunciations. She does excellent male voices and the various characters all have unique, distinct voices and intonation.

The characters from past books that are woven into the story, which is fun and nice if you've read them. You can, however, follow along perfectly fine without having read her other series previously (although they are great and you should treat yourself!).

I do recommend reading the first book in this series, Olivia's tale, before embarking on Pippa's story. The characters from the first book play major roles in this, as well as the structure of their "charity" organization.

Fun, witty HR. Sweet romance, very little steam.

Slow burn historical romance with witty banter and well developed characters.

I enjoyed the story for sure, it's a fun, breezy read with a predictable plot, HEA, and likeable characters. The MFC is smart, clever, and her own woman; very little time of hers is wasted with insipid meekness or self doubt.

The MMC is only a little broody, mostly kind and warm, and of course dashingly alpha. The repetition of his self-made promise to never fall in love got a little tedious at one point, but his rich backstory validated his feelings to be sure.

Epic! Mature characters, steam, action, & LOVE.

Oh, Alice Coldbreath has quickly become a new favorite. This book and the first in the series are both total gems.

Narration is excellent as well!

I thought this book would be a romp, and while it has some qualities of a lighthearted romp, there's depth, maturity, and nuance to the character.

The female main character is strong-willed, brave, open minded, sweet, and fun.

The main male character is alpha in all the right ways and a total softie at all the right times.

The carnival aspect is a lot of fun and provides a super unique backdrop for this genre.

It's sexy AF, the steamy scenes are so well done and definitely leave an impression. The dialogue is witty and interesting.

I just loved it!!

1st book = so DARK. But then, complex beauty. Wow.

Amazing narration, he nailed every voice and POV admirably.

The steam is off the charts, but it's DARK. Especially in the first book... Like, dark dark dark. I listen to a lot of crazy hardcore dark romances, and I had to take breaks to get through the first story.

I'm still not sure if any of the characters are morally redeemable, but I get where they came from.

The sexual tension and the bone deep NEED comes across so vividly.

The alpha male is a true antihero. I hate myself for wanting him and rooting for him, but in the end, I was on his side.

So twisted.

Intense sexual scenes, not for the feint of heart.

If you can appreciate the basest of desires and be willing to confront the darkest of needs that lurk in many humans... Then this story is incredible.

Excellent prose, character work, story development for the genre. I'm hard pressed to think of more eloquently written kink.

At the end of this odyssey, I've been rendered stunned and envious.
