Historia
Owen Conners' whole life changed the day he found out his classmate Bethany was half fictional and could take him into any book in the library. Which story would they jump into next? Another fantasy, like the Kiel Gnomenfoot, Magic Thief books? Maybe something with superheroes? Owen's up for anything except mysteries - those just have too many hidden clues, twists that make no sense, and an ending you never see coming.

Don’t even buy on sale! Worst book ever!
Revisado: 12-02-17
I had to give one star but if I could give one fourth of a star that would be more appropriate! What a huge disappointment!

Waste of money and time!
Revisado: 11-30-17
If I had known that this diet book consisted of no sugar or flour I wouldn't have wasted my time! If you are among the small percentage of people that are truly addicted to food that you eat an entire gallon of ice cream if you eat one bite then maybe this book is for you. But for the majority of people wanting a reasonable diet don't waste your money and definitely not a credit on this book! Narrated by the author, who isn't that great made it a further annoyance. And the entire last chapter is her thanks to umpteen people that helped her - BORING! Save your money and time and pass by this book and move to another!

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

Narrator ruins the book!
Revisado: 03-21-17
The narrator was horrible, even to the point of being so grating and the Scottish accents were just yelling in a gruff voice and most characters sounded the same but I suffered until the end to hear the story which was good. Very disappointed and I won't be listening to the rest of the series.

Horrible gushing narrator!
Revisado: 11-07-16
Not sure why I made myself finish the very predictable book with a even more ridiculous, annoying narrator. This book was Middle School material at best! I've read better stories than this from Middle School children so I shouldn't give the author that much credit. Waste of time and even waste if it was a special. Do yourself a favor and pass this one by!

Historia
Of all of John Irving's books, this is the one that lends itself best to audio. In print, Owen Meany's dialogue is set in capital letters; for this production, Irving himself selected Joe Barrett to deliver Meany's difficult voice as intended. In the summer of 1953, two 11-year-old boys – best friends – are playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire. One of the boys hits a foul ball that kills the other boy's mother. The boy who hits the ball doesn't believe in accidents; Owen Meany believes he is God's instrument. What happens to Owen after that 1953 foul ball is extraordinary and terrifying.

This IS an intensive exercise book!
Revisado: 05-07-16
I was very disappointed with this book. The author claims it's not an exercise book but that's exactly what it is. 6 days of exercise a week, aerobics 2 days and 2 strength training with weights. The other information about health and cholesterol most everyone knows. I wish the descriptions of books were more accurate because being in a wheelchair I'm certainly not going to be able to go on 50 mile bike trips, etc. The advice in the book also pertains to people who have MONEY and lots of it to go on all the retreats recommended. It was really a depressing book for me to realize that all the advice I either could not do physically or financially. If you are in relatively good shape and want to do the best you can to live long then this book is for you IF you have the time and money to do all the things required. Otherwise don't waste your time. Or money and definitely not a credit!

Disappointing and overrated!
Revisado: 05-02-16
I was disappointed in the content of the book. All the horror stories of hoarders was not why I chose this book - I could watch that on TV! The practical use of information to help was sorely lacking other than the amount of other books recommended and some help groups. The book was incomplete. Certainly don't waste a credit on this book - it's not worth reading on sale either! Maybe get a recommendation from a health professional instead. I'm sorry I wasted my time.
