Historia
In the latest volume of his celebrated series of Time Traveler's Guides, Ian Mortimer turns to what is arguably the most-loved period in British history—the Regency, or Georgian England. A time of exuberance, thrills, frills, and unchecked bad behavior, it was perhaps the last age of true freedom before the arrival of the stifling world of Victorian morality. At the same time, it was a period of transition. Conveying the sights, sounds, and smells of the Regency period, this is history at its most exciting—the past not as something to be studied, but as lived experience.

Great story and narration!
Revisado: 07-05-22
Best of the for Time-traveller books so far! Although I have liked them all, this one has the most depth. I don't know where in time I will travel next with Ian Mortimer, but I hope it is soon! I can't wait to go there!

Historia
The predominant image of this first world war is of mud and trenches, barbed wire, machine guns, poison gas, and slaughter. A generation of European manhood was massacred, and a wound was inflicted on European civilization that required the remainder of the twentieth century to heal.

First-Rate Naval History of the Great War
Revisado: 03-22-22
Really top-notch story. Of course, naval history was well done, with just enough diplomacy and land war to give context to the naval war. Narrator was excellent - accents used were just enough to not be overblown. Great listen, highly recommended!

On May 24, 1940, Hitler's armies were on the brink of a shattering military victory. Only 10 miles away, 400,000 Allied troops were pinned against the coast of Dunkirk. But just 11 days later, 338,000 men had been successfully evacuated to England. How did it happen? Walter Lord's remarkable account of how "the miracle of Dunkirk" came about is based on hundreds of interviews.

Great story, meh narration...

Who thought it was a good idea to use an American narrator for such a uniquely British story. Great story, meh narration.

Historia
Imagine you could see the smiles of the people mentioned in Samuel Pepys' diary, hear the shouts of market traders, and touch their wares. How would you find your way around? Where would you stay? What would you wear? Where might you be suspected of witchcraft? Where would you be welcome? This is an up-close-and-personal look at Britain between the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660 and the end of the century.

Best of the three Guides!
Revisado: 09-22-18
By far the best of the three Time Traveller's Guides! Very rich portrayal of the period by an excellent narrator. Highly recommended from a "History" guy!

Historia
In April 1945, the Allies are charging toward Berlin from the west, the Russians from the east. For Hitler, the situation is hopeless. But at this turning point in history, another war is about to explode. To win World War II, the Allies dealt with the devil. Joseph Stalin helped FDR, Churchill, and Truman crush Hitler. But what if "Uncle Joe" had given in to his desire to possess Germany and all of Europe? In this stunning novel, Robert Conroy picks up the history of the war just as American troops cross the Elbe into Germany. Then Stalin slams them with the brute force of his enormous Soviet army.

Good story - narrator makes it barely tolerable
Revisado: 04-19-18
Good and plausible alternative history story, but the narrator's attempts to do German, Russian, French, and British accents makes it very hard to listen to and barely tolerable. They all sound the same - like a whiney Peter Lorre playing Igor. His normal reading voice is fine - just stick to what you're good at!
