Finally finished all 51 hours and 40 minutes of this amazing collection, brilliantly narrated by Andrew Leman and Sean Branney (you get to appreciate just how massive their narrating talent is with a wonderful surprise section at the end.). My favourites include, to name just a few, At The Mountains of Madness, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Colour Out of Space, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, Under the Pyramid and Whisperer in Darkness but above all The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath and all the Randolph Carter stories. For anyone whoever’s been chilled by the name and writings of H.P Lovecraft as I have been since I was young, this collection is a must listen! In both fantasy and horror, his work stands out and there really has never been another writer like him. I will, no doubt, come back to relish a number of these stories again.

An absolute powerhouse of a novel!

Grim and dark, yet peppered with Dickens’ humour, mystery, heroism and romance, this gritty history of The Gordon Riots is incredibly difficult to put down. Somewhat unique among Dickens’ novels for the nature of the titular character and the portrayal of a bird as a significant character it is an extremely powerful historical drama exceptionally well narrated by Jason Watkins. Not to be overlooked among Dickens’ best novels.

I loved this first book in a new dark fantasy series by the wonderful Jonathan Maberry and utterly fail to understand the bad reviews. I would have thought any fan of Maberry’s other series would enjoy this one but apparently not. Great world building, the exploration of some interesting ideas, well drawn characters, lots of action, some nice twists with a few laughs along the way. So glad the next instalment is already out!

This is an inspiring and compelling read beautifully told. I recently ran my first 100 miler and could definitely relate to a lot of what Dean so skilfully expresses. A must read for any ultra runner or indeed anyone seeking to push the boundaries of their limits to discover what they are truly capable of.
