Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

So good I’ve listened to it a second time!
Revisado: 07-16-23
This is such an incredible story. I understand that it is historical fiction, but no doubt so much of what has been described is the truth of what was happening in France during World War II.
My eyes have been opened and my heart has been touched.

One of the most delightful books I have listened to an a very long time
Revisado: 11-03-21
Just wow! I was really sad when this book ended because I was so enjoying all of the stories.
The fact that it was narrated by the authors… The Howard Brothers… Made it that much better! To hear their stories in their own voices added an incredible depth to it.
I fell in love with their parents and how well they supported these young boys growing up and even into adulthood.
In a world filled with so much familial dysfunction it is astounding to me to see such a solid family in particular one embroiled in the world of Hollywood that so often destroys relationships.
It was funny, it was heartwarming, it was enlightening and it was inspiring!
The only disadvantage to listening to it instead of reading it is not being able to see all the photos that I know are in the tangible book.

Excellent book… My second time listening to it
Revisado: 11-01-21
I listened to this book years ago and started to put the laws into practice and then little by little slipped away. I listened again and enjoyed it even more this time.
I thought the narrator was great and really enjoyed the way the book is written.
The principles are sound and I would recommend this to everyone who wants to experience financial freedom.

This hilarious, heartfelt, and soaring adventure will delight fans of The Goonies and Indiana Jones. Performed as a 1930s radio drama, it’s bursting with humor for all ages, orchestral scoring, and some of the most talented voices on Broadway. When their ace pilot parents (and adorable puppy) mysteriously disappear over the Pacific, the Flamingo Sisters - Flo, Faye, and Franny - escape the clutches of their evil Uncle Freidrich (who believes girls should never pilot aeroplanes) and join a flying circus.

Revisado: 01-20-21
Just WOW! I can’t stop thinking about this book. I can’t stop thinking about this story. I can’t stop thinking about the characters and what it must’ve been like to be in their shoes.
This was such a beautiful telling of such a tragic and inspirational time. I am in awe of what Stefania and Helena did at such great risk to themselves and in particular given how young they were.
I highly recommend this to anyone interested in history and the great human spirit!

Finding Life in Between is the powerful story of one woman, struggling in survival mode, who took to heart that when nothing was certain, anything was possible. After finding herself unemployed and emotionally and physically healing from some of life's major interruptions, Candy decided to get in her car and drive south to somewhere, anywhere. Her goal was to step away from her day-to-day life, study human connection, and share her findings about the stories of others. The universe, however, had other plans.

A Delightful Book I can SO Relate to!
Revisado: 01-01-21
Candy’s new book is the selected January book for our Access Inspiration Virtual Book Club for Women. I am so glad it was chosen.
I truly enjoyed listening to this story and following along as Candy made so many deep discoveries about herself and life in the midst of her trials, tribulations, and travels! There were so many things that she shared that I absolutely could relate to from my own experiences in life.
I found it to be incredibly inspiring and helps validate some of the ways that I have come to feel recently in this second (and best) half of my life and post-divorce.
I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys learning about how other people process through their life situations and come out in a better space on the other end.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Revisado: 12-04-20
Oh… And everything else from the beginning until that point was fabulous as well.
Such a great, visual, soul stirring story.
This book has been selected for the virtual women’s book club that I run and I am so glad we selected it this month.
I highly recommend it and am astounded that this is the first fictional book written by this author, Delia Owens.
No doubt her personal experience of solitude and nature has brought such a depth to this that many others would not have been able to offer.
I highly recommend this book!

In Why Good Sex Matters, Wise not only reveals the fundamental problem in how we think about sex and pleasure but also how we arrived at this problematic relationship to begin with. This fascinating book helps us reclaim our innate capacity for joy, fun, exuberance, curiosity, and humor, while showing how reaching our sexual potential makes us smarter, happier, and more productive people. Ultimately, it reveals how a new understanding of sex can lead to a more expansive experience of pleasure in all aspects of our lives.

An Excellent Read/Listen for Everyone
Revisado: 09-06-20
I learned SO much in this book and it doesn't just pertain to sex. It delves into anhedonia: a psychological condition characterized by the inability to experience pleasure in normally pleasurable acts. I didn't know that word before Dr. Nan's book, but boy I refer to it often now as I'm so much more aware of how it has crept into my life in various ways.
This book was selected for my virtual book club for women with the discussion taking place in June 2020 - deep in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic where many of us have struggled emotionally. Getting a better understanding of why things that once brought us great pleasure can turn into something we've lost interest in is very valuable right now.
Dr. Nan REALLY knows her stuff and this book was incredibly enlightening! The fact that it was read by the author herself always makes me feel more connected.
I highly recommend this book!

Amazing Book!!!!!!
Revisado: 05-19-20
Wow! I had no idea that the exotic, sultry bombshell Hedy Lamarr was such a powerful and brilliant woman who literally changed the course of history!
I recently started “Access Inspiration - a Virtual Book Club for Women” and this was suggested by one of our members. We took a vote and it was top of the list.
I really didn’t know much about it but I’m so glad it’s the book we read because I thought it was absolutely amazing!
I highly recommend it to everyone. It’s not a “chick“ book… It brings to light some important, fascinating and often sad times of history.
The women in my book club have loved it as well. One woman read it in one day. Another read it in one weekend, others have had trouble putting it down. That speaks volumes about just how great a book is!
