Then and now
Revisado: 11-29-23
Historic-after reading so many war novels from this time period, it was good to look at the potential lives of those who just tried to get by. In a time that facist ideals are come out internationally and in the US, it is wise to think about the decisions we all make.

Surprising
Revisado: 07-10-23
I expected a world war 2 romance. I didn’t expect so much that I can relate to current times. Politicians -the good, the bad, and the ugly. LBGQT+- intolerance contrasted with human and sensibility. Propaganda, the press, and books- critical thinking starts with learning, Reading, listening and courage.

Definitely up to Kate Quinn’s usual. Very refreshing and patriotic. Shows a creative side not out of just history. Brings it forward to our day.

Wonderful
Revisado: 07-02-23
Very well written. The many themes woven together. I never knew where it was going, never tried(I usually do), and loved it when I got there. Maybe that was because at age I reflected on my aging and my mellowing. Loved the feministic approach without any of the Me 2. Reality over 80+ of the characters years.

It was hard to get into and depressing. I wanted a happy ending. We need to work harder to ensure this is not where we are going

Historia
In 1848, a year of international democratic revolt, a young, enslaved couple, Ellen and William Craft, achieved one of the boldest feats of self-emancipation in American history. Posing as master and slave, while sustained by their love as husband and wife, they made their escape together across more than 1,000 miles, riding out in the open on steamboats, carriages, and trains that took them from bondage in Georgia to the free states of the North.
