Historia
Jason and his companions managed to forestall the inexorable undead, but their battle is far from done. Both they and their enemies are scattered across a strange realm, one that someone must conquer if anyone is to get out alive. Territory by territory, factions fight to reunite their people and conquer the realm. Jason must contend with alliances he doesn’t want, friends he cannot find, and enemies ranging from angelic despots to the power of an undead god. He must face a realm that has been warped by his own mind and find a way to save a friend whose sacrifice got them this far.

Following the devastating attack on Yaresh, its people are left to pick up the pieces. The city lies in ruins, but its decimated defenders have more to deal with than just reconstruction. Jason's actions during the battle have brought unwelcome attention from allies and enemies alike. While the adventurers question his loyalty, the messengers question his very nature. Both have designs on Jason that he intends to thwart, but a danger comes to light that shifts everyone's agenda.

Still a slow story.
Revisado: 12-13-24
unDEAD. It's pronounced unDEAD!!!!! You JUST said unCHAllenged, now say unDEAD. ARRGHHHH.
Plot still moves slowly and descriptions are repeated a lot whoch adds to the length. It's borderline filler, but at least we're moving.
The powers reclaimed and then taken away before they were even used was pretty lame.

Join Tim, Dave, Julian, and Cooper as they are thrown into a hostile fantasy world filled with magic and monsters, and ruled over by a cruel and sadistic game master who taunts and harasses them while he sits back and eats their fried chicken.

Repetitive with no development
Revisado: 03-18-22
TL;DR Repeating the same trope over and over is tiring and there's NOTHING underneath. Skip it in favor of others on the genre.
I'm currently into Book 3 so it's time for a review. Skip this one. "Everybody Loves Large Chests" is so much better and so is "NPCs". Both are in the same genre with the prior being similarly low brow, but not overdoing it like this one. The latter is more serious but still excellent.
This story is mediocre at best which is a shame given the excellent narration.
I'm all for low brow jokes, but when you use it as the only content and substance of the book you've lost.
There's ABSOLUTELY NO character development and the use of newly acquired stats and abilities only happens when it's convenient.
Over 2 books on and it still reads like a campy Scooby Doo chase, with characters running by each other over and over in what is supposed to be funny in the absurd I suppose.
Update: After finishing book 4 there is a hint of character development which is tempting to pursue, but I stand by that NPCs is better. If you want crude humor with real strategy on top go with Everyone Loves Large Chests

Historia
In Dad is Fat, stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, who’s best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald's, expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children - everything from cousins ("celebrities for little kids") to toddlers’ communication skills ("they always sound like they have traveled by horseback for hours to deliver important news"), to the eating habits of four-year-olds ("there is no difference between a four-year-old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor").

Do Not Recommend
Revisado: 10-29-20
Had a hard time finishing this. May be better if you have kids.
Too repetitive and not enough content. Reads a bit like a lazy biography.
Remind me again, is his wife fertile?
Does a family of 5 make the apartment below them miserable?
I'm only a few weeks after finishing this and that's all I remember.

Historia
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

Overboard Sound Effects
Revisado: 01-20-20
Story and voices as good as the others although I wish the god of improbable circumstances was more involved. The sound effects on the other hand are getting... out of hand. After Hilda shows Boxy another job there's a scene where all you here is piercing cricket fx on repeat

Good book. Difficult narration.
Revisado: 09-16-17
Good information, but it was a struggle to listen because the narrator's volume trails off at the end of every sentence or thought. Every phrase is a decrescendo and to hear the end of it I had to set my volume uncomfortably loud.
