This was my first Ann Patchett book but I will now be reading others. It was crafted so well! Also, I knew with Meryl Streep narrating it had to be really great, and it was. A perfect book.

Energetic, concise narrator brings new life to an old classic!

I could never get into the book or the movie—until now, with this gifted narrator who made it such interesting listening. Here and there the story is a little monotonous with all the overindulging and indiscretions of the wealthy class, but I’m glad I decided to give Mr. Gatsby another try.

I love the humor and witty dialogue

I have been waiting for this book and am thrilled to get to listen to this expert narrator read the prose by this expert author. I just love the duo of Lady Hardcastle and her tiny servant, and all the interesting situations they get in. I did miss the little “talk” at the end that have been at others in this series in which some history related to the story is explained. Other than that I give it 10 stars!

Wonderful tale of pioneering women flyers, and beautiful Hawaii

I felt like I was right there with the main characters in this terrific historical fiction novel. I’ve listened to this author’s WWII novels set in Hawaii, and this was just as good. Also, I really enjoy hearing the Hawaiian language pronounced by an expert narrator.

A very exciting story!

I enjoy middle-grade stories written in this time period. The narrator is adept at making each twist and turn exciting, and at bringing the cast of characters to life! This is my favorite Hardy Boy audiobook in the series so far!

Exciting magical spells

Other than what seemed like a slow start, I certainly enjoyed the entire series—the magic, the family dynamic, the true love that each of the main family of witches hopes for, the endearing cat, and much more…I think this author-narrator duo is top-notch!

A fun, fast-paced, well-narrated story!

This was a lot of fun! Two teenaged brothers sleuthing, figuring out whodunnit! They have their own motorcycles and motorboat—that in itself is fun to imagine! It’s written in a long-ago style and was meant for boys perhaps around 11-14, but these days it appeals to others, too. The narrator makes each character come alive and moves the story forward in an exciting manner.

Refreshingly old fashioned story!

I hadn’t ever read any of this series, so it was with pleasure I started in on this old fashioned story of well-mannered teenaged boys who just want to be like their father! This is narrated in just the right voice for the characters and is suitable for family listening.

Great, well-narrated story!

I really enjoyed listening to this book! I felt that the narrator perfectly captured this old 1912 book by studying the characters so he knew how they would speak in all parts of the book. I especially enjoyed how Shorty, the old timers, the Scotsman, and some of the women spoke. It is not all fun and games; some of this was downright tragic, but it was all captivating and exciting. I wondered if the author had lived all these things or heard a lot of them around the campfire. Regardless, I wanted to hear more when it ended!
