Still enjoying this series
Revisado: 06-14-21
This is the 3rd book in this series and I am still enjoying the series very much. In this book the campers find more bodies and Frannie and friends can't help but try to solve the double murder. I love the camping aspects of the books. The details are realistic and it provides for some fun characters to be added to the mix in each new book/campground. I suspected the murder before the end, but there were enough details about others thrown in that it kept it interesting. I think one of my favorite things about these books are the characterizations. The camping friends, the authorities, the sometimes wacky camp guests, etc. are all very well developed and make the story very enjoyable. I really enjoy Michelle Babb's narrations.
I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and impartial review, which I have provided. I am enjoying this series so much that I am heading out to buy the next book in the series and am looking forward to continuing the journey with Frannie and friends.

Historia
Frannie and Larry Shoemaker love taking their grandchildren, Sabet and Joe, camping with them. But at Bluffs State Park, Frannie finds herself worrying more than usual about their safety, and when another young girl disappears from the campground in broad daylight, her fears increase. The fun of a bike ride, a flea market, marshmallow guns, and a storyteller are quickly overshadowed. Accusations against Larry and her add to the cloud over their heads. Frannie begins to puzzle out the mystery.

Really liked this
Revisado: 06-14-21
I enjoyed book #1 of this series, but I liked this one even more. Very well written and the characters are becoming more familiar and like old friends. I love the camping aspects of this series and it makes me want to join them. So much of their routines like hiking/sight seeing and planning their meals (which is a major part of their camping routine) add a lot to the story. The mystery was well plotted and while I figured out the bad guys before the end, it in no way deflected from the enjoyment of the story. The recurring characters, including their friends and authorities, were a welcome aspect. The characters are realistic in that they are not all close friends, but they have learned to get along. This book was narrated by a different person than Book #1, and while the other narrator was good, I like Michelle Babb's narration better. The voices just seemed to fit the characters a bit better.
I was graciously provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest, impartial review, which I have provided. I will definitely continue listening to this series.

They anticipate the usual hiking, campfires, good food, and interesting side trips among the bluffs of beautiful Bat Cave State Park for the long Fourth of July weekend - until a dead body turns up. Good beginning to a series
Revisado: 06-14-21
I received a complimentary copy of book 2 in this series and, since I don't like to start a series out of order, I bought this book so I could start at the beginning. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Growing up, my family camped a lot, and much of the details of the group's camping traditions and experiences were very realistic and brought back great memories. Now that I'm older, I would not be able to tent camp like when I was a kid, but the trailer camping that these friends do sounds great. The writing was good and there were enough options to the possible murder that it keeps you guessing. I will definitely continue with the series.

Love this!
Revisado: 08-19-20
I absolutely loved this book. So glad to have a new series to look forward to, and I hope there is a second book soon. I started listening to this and literally could not stop. I ended up staying up until 2 am to finish it. Primary characters were well developed and there are enough secondary characters with a lot of potential to come forward in future books. I really enjoyed the relationship between the two primary characters. Even though this wasn't quite as much a "who done it" as a "how do we prove it", the plot line kept me involved to the end. I am definitely looking forward to more in this series.

Great mystery, & spot-on knowledge of cat rescue
Revisado: 04-29-19
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one is even better. I enjoyed the characterizations, and the mystery was well written. But I have to say that what made the book excel for me was the spot-on descriptions of the cats and what it is like to foster or work in a shelter. Linda Reilly obviously has experience in cat rescue or she did an amazing amount of research. The descriptions of wanting what is best for the cats and wanting to place them in great homes, but at the same time, feeling the loss when they leave was spot-on. The knowledge of dealing with feral/semi-feral cats was also perfect. I foster for a cat rescue and a local shelter, and the side stories that revolved around the cats was more realistic than any cozy mystery I have read. So, while I totally enjoyed the mystery, I was also blown away by the cat rescue knowledge.

The best of the best...
Revisado: 04-29-19
While I am saddened that this is the end of this series, I am grateful to Heather Blake for the gift of this book, and this series. I have enjoyed sharing the lives of the people of the Enchanted Village over the years. They have become like family, and Heather created them in a way that I could totally believe the premise that witches are living along side mortals in this charming place. There were so many situations that have come up in prior books, and Heather managed to bring everything to a satisfying resolution in this one book. This book is truly the best of the best. I was so happy with how things unfolded for Harper, Glenda, Vince, the Elder, Nick, Darcy and...oh, I guess everyone else in the village. So, while I'm sorry that this series has ended, I am glad to have this book - and the others in the series - to listen to over and over. And I should also mention that the voice artist, Coleen Marlo, did an amazing job narrating this series.

Revisado: 04-29-19
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I think this one was even better. I like the characters, and the mystery was very well done. The aunts are a kick, and their video was a humorous side story. I like the direction Everly and Grady are heading, and I am looking forward to more in this series (the election should be interesting)

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 04-29-19
First in a new series, and I am hoping there will be others. I like the characters, primary and secondary, and the mystery was very well written. The side stories like the little libraries, the aunts and their legends, the cat, Everly's vehicles, Grady and his family, etc. were entertaining. I would love to live in a place like Charm. Looking forward to more in this series.

Excellent beginning
Revisado: 04-29-19
I have been wanting to read this series, but I am not able to read printed or ebooks, and need audio books. I was so happy to find that this was recently added to Audible. I enjoyed this book immensely, and am now a fan of Trouble. The characterizations were great and the mystery was extremely well written. I'm really hoping that the rest of the books in this series will be released in audio. I wasn't sure when it started how I felt about the cat being recorded by a different voice artist, with a British accent, but once I started listening to the book, I was totally hooked.

Well worth the wait!
Revisado: 01-06-19
I love this series so much. I read a lot of cozy mysteries and I would have to say this series is definitely in my top 5. I waited and waited for this new book to come out, and I was absolutely not disappointed. My only regret is that it’s over. I’m already looking forward to the next one. I listened to this twice, to make sure I didn’t miss any details, and I’m sure I will listen to it again (as I have done with the first 5 in the series). With each book, the characters become more and more like dear friends. I think one of the things I like about the characters is that they don’t become stale, they are always growing, but their basic personalities are always right there and familiar – like old friends you haven’t seen in a while, but once you are together again, it’s like it was yesterday.
Other reviewers will detail the plot, so I’ll concentrate on characters and basics. The mystery in this book, like the others, was very well thought out, with twists and turns that you could follow along with. If you just look at the premise, you might think that each book is the same – there is a murder, Kath and company get involved to the chagrin of the Cole, and they end up besting the law to solve the mystery. But that is so far from the truth. Each adventure is new and fresh. In this installment, there were new characters, and a new locale (The Vault) that provided a lot of possibilities. There were actually two murders in this book, and that added an additional twist.
Some of the characters introduced in prior books were strengthened and provided good plot enhancement (Angie & Aaron, Al & Inspector Bruce). Geneva has continued to grow with each book and has become very likable. The paranormal aspects are handled so well that I can totally believe the premise (and I was glad for Joe’s inclusion). And, of course, there is the usual crew (Kath, Joe, Ardis, Cole, Thea, John, Mel, Ernestine, Darla, the Spiveys, Ardis’ daddy…). They create a package that I love opening, and I really can’t wait to open the next gift from Molly.
Oh, and I don’t want to forget to mention that the voice artist, Emily Durante, who has narrated all 6 books in this series, is amazing. I am so glad that she has continue to voice the whole series. It is the perfect package deal.
