Doctor Fionn Kane is running from a broken heart, one he hopes to mend in small-town Nebraska, far away from his almost-fiancé and his derailed surgical career. It’s a simpler life: head down, hard work, and absolutely no romantic relationships. He wants none of the circus he left behind in Boston.

horror fans will love this. The chemistry is amazing, the banter *chef's kiss*. If you loved Dexter, boondock saints, and romcoms this series will knock your socks off.

there was a lot of plot for one book, was hard to keep track of the different threads, conflicts and goals. every time I think things are about to wrap up then I see that there's hours left. shits about to get worse.

In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back. The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses.

The missing piece of her soul
Revisado: 06-10-24
In book one we learned that Harrow didn't have much of a childhood, only one child close to her age around and they hated eachother, in book two we learn that outside of the occupant of the locked tomb she believes she's incapable of feeling love for any living person, this book fills in those voids, Gideon is no longer her only friend, she has family now and she loves everybody who is a part of her life, takes the concept of an inner child to a whole new level, Nona is the innocence that Harrow never got to experience because her parents told her as soon as they were able to what they did to produce a necromancer which destroyed any chance she ever had of a normal upbringing. Nona the Ninth feels necessary for the charachter's overall development and it makes it much easier to empathise with her as something other than an elitist sociopathic killing machine.

Managing the frozen-food aisles at the market rarely brings excitement. Until average gal Maya Flores meets two female customers who want her to go out with them...separately, of course. Jocie Greer is the charismatic lover that she’s always desired. When they’re together, they’re on an adventure. Maya doesn’t have to think about the crumbling family waiting for her at home. And when she’s with Loren Hamilton, the professor who can quote from classic literature and the latest hot romance novel, Maya feels like the star of her own best-selling romance.

narration took me out of it
Revisado: 08-17-23
sapphic poly romances are something that I've been looking for for a long time, this was the 2nd I found and it was the worst. Not because the story wasn't good. I could overlook the tropes and the predictability. I even appreciate that the writer took a swing at her own genre by calling it 'the fast food of literature' so to use her metaphor, the synopsis promised us the big Mac we see in the commercial the narration we got when we opened the bag was the sad attempt someone thought was good enough to pass as edible and they forgot you said no onions. There were unnecessary long pauses and sometimes I thought the sentence was over and it wasn't. like I had to check every once in a while to see if my headphones died...nope...just a long
pause.

Epic storytelling
Revisado: 07-28-23
The banter, the kill bill plot, the descriptive language were absolutely the best I've read in a long time, I bought this title on sale and left it sitting in my library for almost a year, ran out of things to listen to and figured "why not?". it's one of those rare books you come across that make you realize how lacking the bulk of the authors you consume are by comparison. the last line in the book is "the sunrise was the color of bad blood." and it earns the weight of those words.

Despite having what I consider to be a stellar disposition, I've acquired a laundry list of enemies. Narrowing it down won't be easy. But one thing is for sure: Whoever it is knows what I am and won't stop until I'm dead or behind bars. Out of options, I must delve into the supernatural underground I've tried so hard to avoid in search of help. Feeling more lost than ever before, I must own my truth to save myself. I'm not human. My kind no longer exist. I am...the last Valkyrie.

Sarcastic and charming
Revisado: 07-07-23
ok so if you don't think about it too hard and realize that She and Finn are cousins, it's a pretty good series, the plot holes are negligible. the ending broke my heart. Reminds me of the shows that used to run on the WB back in the 90's and early 00's great world building.

Historia
Emilia Drakon was once the youngest and kindest of the dragon sorcerers, but she's now the last of her kind. Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles. Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.

can this be the new Pirates of the Caribbean?
Revisado: 06-08-23
so Captain Maria has captain Jack Sparrow's back story more or less. This book made me even gayer and I loved it. I do kind of feel like the ending was a bit rushed over and I'm not thrilled about the cliffhanger, but I love their power struggle dynamic the chemistry is epic and you can cut the sexual tension with a cutlass.

Anna does boring things for terrible people because even criminals need office help and she needs a job. Working for a monster lurking beneath the surface of the world isn’t glamorous. But is it really worse than working for an oil conglomerate or an insurance company? In this economy? A sharp, witty, modern debut, Hench explores the individual cost of justice through a fascinating mix of millennial office politics, heroism measured through data science, body horror, and a profound misunderstanding of quantum mechanics.

great disability representation
Revisado: 04-17-23
as a disabled person with a lifetime of physical therapy and surgical recovery, this was the first time I read something from someone that "gets it" the struggle the adaption to new limitations and determined spite that makes it all possible. so great to see a superhero story that focuses not only on the human cost in suffering but also the villain's perfectly reasonable response to an insane world.

the mother in law killed it for me
Revisado: 04-10-23
her voice actor was awful, bad pacing, at some points the way she strung sentences together made me ask..."is she done?" and she was still going. I get that she's supposed to be a manipulative b*@ch but that should be all it takes to make her unlikable, bad voice acting just takes me out of it. I can give leeway for changing voice actors part way through for different perspectives if they're competent but I found her parts irritating.
