The Republic of Genoa: The History of the Italian City that Became Influential across the Mediterranean during the Middle Ages examines the highs and lows of Genoa La Superba (“The Proud”), including its humble origins in the first century CE, its felicitous rise after the fall of the Roman Empire, its golden age as a mercantile power during the “Genoese Century,” and its demise at the hands of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1797.

Short but for the price it is worth it.

Excellent but way too short

I loved the story, the narration and content, that was an excellent book especially given it is the only one in audible about the history of this great mediterranean Empire. Loved it! Could have been longer, though.

On July 12, 1588, the legendary Spanish Armada started for the English channel. The Spanish plan was to take this invasion, led by the duke of Parma, to the coast of southeast England, where they would be released to conquer Elizabethan England for the Spanish monarch and Catholic Christendom.

The book was so good, succinct and I formative that I wished it was much longer. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
