YA book once again teaches us about Rebellion

The books I frequently fall in love with are those that teach us that we have power and how to resist the power of those who seek to wield it over us as a weapon of suppression. As a descendant of the British Isles having the story told that this civilization we were being told we were saving was actually cleaner and more civilized than our own was hard to hear but it was necessary to view my ancestors as sometimes villans in the stories where we claimed to be heroes and ultimately how the multiple perspectives on a single event can unravel the truth far better than a single perspective no matter how well researched.

first time I have felt immersed in a story based in the Middle East since Aladdin

wow....I cannot wait to start the next book in this series. I can imagine the characters, colors, smells, sand and heat. The female lead takes my breath away. She is a powerful and ethically sound example that any girl would adore to be like. I don't understand why this has not become a series or movie......yet.

a timeless family history of generational trauma

every person can find themselves within these pages and words. truths difficult to hear can be explored and navigated by diving into the characters. most importantly you may learn not only familial love but God's love in the words thou mayest.

The female voices are hauntingly good. You may find yourself identifying with one or more of the characters and their struggles. But be warned....you will not get much done once you sink your ears into this mystery.

Nature can be a powerful medicine

I have often experienced nature helping me let go of things holding me down and holding me back. I thought it was my celtic and viking blood but it is so much more than that.
Listening to the variety of ways that nature, not the hard ass tough it out be uncomfortable and hungry way, but a comfortable and fun way can help your mind, nervous system and heartrate be simply put.....better. I am now embarking on my own journey to better cultivate nature healing. This is a great, quick listen to remind you why getting outside may be just the medicine we need.

Still Lives is a work of art

If you want to be transported to the artsy and gritty side of LA then Still Lives is for you. I found myself easily able to imagine the locations and people....but be careful as you fall for LA you might lose all sense of time making sure you finish just one more chapter that turns into 5 or 6 chapters.
