Historia
US intelligence is reporting turmoil in the Russian navy. Their deadliest submarine, the Belgorod, has unexpectedly launched, and taken along with it a long list of questions. Who authorized the departure? What mission is it on? And, most disturbing of all, what weapons do the giant doors on the sub’s bow hide? It's been four decades since a similar incident with the Soviet sub, Red October, ended happily, thanks to a young CIA analyst named Jack Ryan.

Good but not great
Revisado: 02-11-25
Interesting story, although I don’t understand why the Russian President wouldn’t just have all conspirators arrested when he first found out the plot. Also, the whole “girl boss” thing is getting stale. I don’t see a compelling reason that Katie needed to fly out to the submarine, besides it being some sort of family tradition.

The robot discovers they can also do something else they never did before: They can run away. Shocking world
Revisado: 06-10-24
This dystopian world the author created is frightening, but plausible. The story has the right
Mixture of humor and seriousness and I really like Noah.
The plot is interesting. Great book, and the narrator was pretty good.

This isn’t consistent with the prior books regarding enemies. The other aspects were consistent though. I also think the narrator was a bit off, compared to the books before. Overall, worth a listen , it you’ve gotten this far I the series.

Fun book series. I enjoy the story and characters. If I had a complaint, it would be that Morgan’s wife gets on my nerves with her resistance to the realities of their new life.

Historia
The Communist Chinese leadership decides to move up their timetable to become the world’s sole superpower from 2049 to the present. Part of this is to unify Taiwan by force. They believe the best model for accomplishing their wider goals is to copy the comprehensive moves by Imperial Japan. The CCP/PLA thinks they can replicate the successes of the Japanese, while at the same time eliminating the failures. By means of subterfuge, they strike their East Asian neighbors, Western Pacific sea lanes, and the key American naval bases, relying on advanced missile and drone technology.

A book I was listening to ended while driving so I quickly pulled over to get another book and had to choose quickly so the title to this one seemed interesting .
This is actually a great story. The author goes to great lengths to include many details. While some of the story may be somewhat implausible at tiny points I must admit that I enjoyed this. It’s a slow burn but worth a listen.
I had some issues with the narrator at the beginning but he grew on me. It’s not bad but it’s far from RC Bray.

Revisado: 07-28-22
Excellent story and narration.
My only issue is with the senator. While I do believe our politicians are that stupid and one dimensional, I feel he could have been done a little better. I also don’t believe that someone modeled after Eric Prince (founder of black water), the private military ceo in the story, would do what he did for the senator.
But overall the book is a great listen.
