Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

The narration is unengaging
Revisado: 08-06-24
I'm not sure if it was just the droning narration or just that the story was flat. I finally gave up on listening because I just couldn't connect with the story.

Worst cop ever, no wonder he got pushed to the cold case files. He should've just gotten fired.

It seems like a great story; narrator puts me to sleep
Revisado: 06-19-23
While I'm sure it's a good story, the narrator's voice is so soothing, she puts me to sleep. I'll have to get the Kindle version and read it instead.

Historia
I’m not a cop. I’m an almost-ex-wife and former full-time mom who works part-time at the local yarn store. The biggest mystery I’ve ever solved is finding a missing knitting needle tucked behind my ear after spending all morning looking for it. Someone in Harmony Lake is trying to stitch me up for murder. So, armed with everything I’ve learned from watching murder mysteries on TV, and a little help from my friends, it’s up to me to find the real killer

Great stories, horrible narrator
Revisado: 03-23-23
My only reason for finishing the books was because the stories were well written. But I just can't listen to the rest of the series. The narrator sounds like an emotionless computer. She is not good with male voices either - they sound slow and dim witted. Some of the female voices sound like bubbly anime characters. The narrator ruined the series for me.

Revisado: 02-20-20
The book was well written and well acted. The vivid descriptions kept the “movie” running in my head. There wasn’t a long set up but the author was still able to bring you into the story and make the characters relatable. Overall an enjoyable listen.

It was a nice story, but not captivating
Revisado: 01-06-20
Overall it was a nice story. The narrator was great and it was easy to make out the different characters. I just really had trouble getting vested into the story/characters. I have no real desire to listen to the next book. But the overall story was interesting enough that I wanted to keep listening to hear how it ended.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Great book, too short
Revisado: 07-17-17
The story was interesting and the performance was awesome, but the book was too short. The story needs to be filled out more, there are lots of unanswered questions.

Wonderfully engaging story that really sucks you into their world. The narrator is spot on with her use of inflection and variety of voices.
