I can’t believe all the rave reviews for this pablum. And can’t believe I listened to all. I’m ashamed of myself. You could see all of it coming from a mile away. Just putrid.

I got halfway through it but had enough of the irritating, neurotic protagonist. If you want to read great stories, try Stephen King's latest. He's the master. This author is merely a wanna-be.

Schlocky

This reminded me of a cliché disaster movie like the towering inferno. Crichton was a terrific author, so I have to chalk this up to Patterson making it so pedestrian. I also used to enjoy Scott Brick’s narration, but he has gotten so melodramatic with the last couple of things I listened to that. I just can’t take his readings anymore.

I had hoped this book was going to be something special. It was anything but that.

He just keeps bringing it

Somehow, Mark Greany always manages to take the formula and add new ingredients to make it consistently enjoyable unlike the worn out Tom Clancy novels that I have finally given up on. Maybe it was because there was Clancy and then there was the rest of them.

But I digress. Like all his previous books this one does not disappoint and it leaves us with a cliffhanger for the first time in a while.

It's finally run out of gas.

I've been a fan of this series since Red October. But it's time for Jack and Jr. to retire. As another reviewer wrote, it's like the book was created by ChatGPT. The normally terrific Scott Brick sounds overly dramatic and the dialogue is pure cliched pablum.

I've got another 3 hours left and I'm not sure I can finish listening to this travesty. Want a better story? Read the Grey Man series. Greaney is still cranking out good stuff.

I’ve listened to all the Lincoln lawyer novels. This one might be the best of all. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Oh, Stephen, I love ya buddy, but this is NOT one of your best works. I just couldn't finish it, but I loved how you drove the MAGAts crazy as we've seen from their whining reviews. Keep that up, but give us a better story next time.

I kept waiting for this to be at least as good as the first novel, but sadly it was not. Ray Porter is usually a great narrator, but his constant, sighing delivery was extremely distracting. Very disappointed.

Dickens reincarnated

This is one of the most brilliant books I’ve ever read. If Charles Dickins were reincarnated today this would be the book he would write. And the narrator makes this incredible story even better. Just brilliant.

This fascinating account was marred by perhaps the worst narration I have ever endured since I started audible books years ago. I managed to finish, but it was really tough listening to the continual sighs (why?) and amateurish attempts at character accents. Maybe that’s the reason this book is now free.
