great ending to the series
Revisado: 04-09-21
its honestly been a while since I tore through a series this quickly, she created well rounded character who felt alive and had agency and managed to finishe the story in a satisfying way. this is why I love her as an author, this was a great escape read and I highly recommend them all.

I'm already a fan of this writer but this book was refreshing in its storytelling. I am looking forward to the end of the trilogy.

another great YA by Hocking
Revisado: 04-03-21
This was the type of book I've come to expect from Amanda Hocking. Interesting characters and plot, throw in a dash of teen angst and magic and voila, a great book. I nabbed the other 2 in the Audible sale so I'm definitely going to keep up with this series.

Historia
Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole. She was crowned Queen of the Red Court and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the boy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly appealing Morpheus. Now all she has to do is graduate high school. That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious.

decent YA book
Revisado: 10-18-20
I liked this one more than the last one, it felt more organic, less forced. I found myself legit caring for the characters which is a bonus when you're reading a 4 part series, lol. I will say if you can get through the first one this one rewards you by tying in the previous elements from the last book as well and introducing new concepts but it doesn't seem like a facade in this book. it feels like an established mythos which is good.

Historia
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of Underland, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers - precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

super gothy
Revisado: 10-04-20
this book is for the people who played American McGees Alice and thought to themselves "this could be more emo" the story is a basic fantasy adventure with 2 boys vying for 1 girls heart and one of the boys is a monster (like you do). I imagine it's also what happens when a hot topic from 1999 vomits all over paper. I'm kinda shocked that the author managed to get 4 books out of this premise. they're included in the Audible subscript so I might as well read them for giggles, hopefully they will get a bit deeper. the visuals were pretty cool and the description of magic was better than the last book I read so it does have its good points, if I didn't I wouldn't bother with the other books despite their level of free.

a good ending to the series
Revisado: 09-27-20
altho I spent 80% of the book telling the main heroine that she was an idiot, and the constant references to her shrieking mead me physically cringe. the non-Eden characters kept me interested and the ending to the series is quite satisfying. i will say I still don't like the descriptions of magic throughout but it wasn't distracting enough to not want to know what was going to happen. I would recommend this series.

this one pissed me off again
Revisado: 09-26-20
all of the gains from the second book were lost in this one. I spend half the book calling the main character and idiot in outrage because especially just dies a lot of stupid stuff. the author is starting to grate a bit because literally everything out of the main characters mouth is shrieked. She used"I shrieked" at least 100 times and Im just like no human could possibly shriek this much. Im still gonna read the last one tho, neither of those things are a death knell and honestly the narrator makes even this plot listenable. plus there's a lot of side characters that are really great.

ok story
Revisado: 09-22-20
I have read a ot of young adult paranormal fiction, and this one was ok, the reason its just ok and not good is because the magic mechanisms weren't well defined and the plot had holes, mainly why are you letting main character destroy 3 schools. Like just sit her down and teach her about magic for 5 min. then all the other characters acted like she should have known all about their legends and know how to use her powers fully when literally no one tol her until like a month ago, rude. im gonna read the next book and see if it gets better. here's hoping.
