Historia
When store manager Big Will announces he is leaving, the members of Movement spot an opportunity. If they play their cards right, one of them just might land a management job, with all the stability and possibility for advancement that that implies. The members of Team Movement―including a comedy-obsessed oddball who acts half his age, a young woman clinging on to her “cool kid” status from high school, and a college football hopeful trying to find a new path―band together to set a just-so-crazy-it-might-work plot in motion.

Great story
Revisado: 01-24-25
I loved how this book a highlighted the life of all of its characters, allowing the reader to have a peak into the lives of others. I am someone who has worked retail in the past and, I highly related to the things that the characters go through.
But even if you haven't worked retail, this book is entertaining and touches the heartstrings.

Historia
The stockings are hanging ready, the sherry and pies are waiting by the fireplace - but where is the jolly fat man with his sack? It's not right to find Death creeping down chimneys and trying to say 'Ho ho ho'—but someone's got to bring the little kiddies their presents. Or else they might stop believing. Belief is important in Discworld, particularly on the last night of the year when the time is turning. If the real man in the red suit isn't found by morning, there won't be a morning. Ever again....

Amazing life lesson
Revisado: 08-13-24
I would recommend everyone I know read this book because of the theme that very rarely gets addressed in our American culture: forgiveness. It teaches that every human being has worth beyond they're worst mistake.
I hesitated purchasing this book because of the heavy topic, but I'm glad I did because it opened my eyes to how to better treat others and myself.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Historia
You were born influential. But then you were taught to suppress that power, to follow the rules, to wait your turn, to not make waves. Award-winning Yale professor Zoe Chance will show you how to rediscover the superpower that brings great ideas to life. Influence doesn’t work the way you think because you don’t think the way you think. Move past common misconceptions—such as the idea that asking for more will make people dislike you—and understand why your go-to negotiation strategies are probably making you less influential.

This is a great book with useful information that can be applied to my life right away. I loved how the author introduced the concept of our "gator brain" and our "judge" from the beginning and then wove them throughout the book.

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

this is a beautiful story about a part of the United States that many, like myself, do not know much about. I'm glad I took the time to listen and learn more through this fictional story that gives a glimpse at life in foster care and in the midst of the opioid crisis.
