If I was actively fundraising, this would be great. I’m not, and I just wanted to learn more about the process, so it’s a bit technical.

This is a wonderful book. I’m happy to be rereading it.
It talks about moving from one master (Mr. Jones) to another (the pigs).

Fascinating book.

Proposal is the absolute last step and make content! I wouldn’t read it again though.

Takeaways: only give proposal when they’ve said yes. Don’t give proposal until they’ve said yes.

Price high so you can do good work

Have a minimum and tell the client early and then say “but before I say no, let me ask you a couple of questions”

Make sure you diagnose before telling them what they should have

BIG ONE: make content so you’re in their buying process before they even know they need you. It’s a long game, but it pays off down the road. Make sure the content helps them purely, then they’ll come to you for more. You don’t need to promote your services all the time. Just help them solve their problem.

Don’t work for free. Talk about money early.

This is a great book for a new speaker

The advice in this book is a lot of what advice I hear in the national speakers association.
I’d recommend this book, and it’s pretty good. I’d read it again, but know that it’s like “don’t start with a joke” “use silence” “don’t read things off the paper, read it, look up, deliver words.”

I skipped around this the first time listening

"The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung presents key insights into obesity:

- Hormonal imbalances, especially insulin, are key contributors to obesity.
- Challenging traditional views on calories, highlighting five false assumptions:
1. All Calories are Equal.
2. Calorie Reduction as Primary.
3. Calories In, Calories Out. (We can’t win a will-power battle here - our hormones win out in the long term)
4. Eating Less, Exercising More.
5. Calorie Restriction is Effective.
- Emphasizes the impact of carbohydrates and sugar on weight gain and insulin resistance.
- Advocates for intermittent fasting and a low-carb, high-fat, high-fiber diet for weight management.
- Discusses the influence of socioeconomic factors and the food industry on obesity trends.

This is a good book for a beginner in the service industry but I’ve just read so many books on this. That much of it was almost a reminder of things that I have already read. The most helpful things from this book were to give so much value that you feel like you’re giving it awayand to have a strategy for everything that you do. It’s also a good reminder to have the red velvet rope policy, where you only work with people that really fit your business, and that you can help the most. I think it was also helpful to see that there are many systems that he recommends that we can use. I like his podcast a lot and he’s very genuine in the book and I think that that helped because there are a lot of get rich quick gurus out there. It did feel like an entire weekend training program in a book, so I definitely think that it was worth it, but it was just a little basic for what I was looking for. I wouldn’t read it a second time.

I got about half way through 2x before I stopped reading both times. It’s a fine book, but it’s a lot of normal business strategy at least in the first half. Like “who are you making videos for?” “Look at analytics” etc.
Maybe there’s some special sauce in the second half, but it doesn’t seem like there’s WILDLY special stuff in here.

I think the book was very clear about the different lovers. You can pull to start buying real estate and hacking your house. I thought it was most interesting that you can put only 3.5% down and add your rental income as projected income. Made it much more clear about what it actually takes to manage a rental property and how to finance deals when you don’t have the money to buy a multimillion dollar property. I think this book was great to show what is possible in real estate and now I have to use these general ideas and actually do the research and do the work. But this book opened my eyes to what is possible in real estate.
