Historia
David Fajgenbaum, a former Georgetown quarterback, was nicknamed the Beast in medical school, where he was also known for his unmatched mental stamina. But things changed dramatically when he began suffering from inexplicable fatigue. In a matter of weeks, his organs were failing and he was read his last rites. Doctors were baffled by his condition, which they had yet to even diagnose. Floating in and out of consciousness, Fajgenbaum prayed for a second chance, the equivalent of a dramatic play to second the game into overtime.

Historia
It was 1953, the Korean War in full throttle, when two men—already experts in their fields—crossed the fabled 38th Parallel into Communist airspace aboard matching Panther jets. John Glenn was an ambitious operations officer with fifty-nine World War II combat missions under his belt. His wingman was Ted Williams, the two-time American League Triple Crown winner who, at the pinnacle of his career, was inexplicably recalled to active service in the United States Marine Corps. Together, the affable flier and the tempestuous left fielder soared into North Korea, creating a death-defying bond.

Historia
In 2014, the world witnessed the start of a mysterious series of cyberattacks. Targeting American utility companies, NATO, and electric grids in Eastern Europe, the strikes grew ever more brazen. They culminated in the summer of 2017, when the malware known as NotPetya was unleashed, penetrating, disrupting, and paralyzing some of the world's largest businesses—from drug manufacturers to software developers to shipping companies. At the attack's epicenter in Ukraine, ATMs froze. The railway and postal systems shut down. Hospitals went dark.

Revisado: 12-03-19
The author makes the reader aware of how dependent we are on computers. Everything from Banking to oil production to communications and the electric grid depends on the flawless function of our computers. He outlines the major threats and the USA's posture on preventing and waging a cyberwar. A book worth reading.

Historia
Jace Hughes is a Renegade. That means taking almost any job that comes his way, no matter the situation. So long as he can keep his ship floating, he's free to live the life he wants. But that all changes when he meets Abigail Pryar, a nun looking for safe passage out of the system. Too bad there's something off about the cargo she's carrying. Jace knows he shouldn't ask too many questions, but when strange sounds start coming from inside the large, metal box, he can't help but check it out. Big mistake. To make matters worse, he's being pursued by unknown ships - who want that cargo.

Historia
It wasn’t supposed to be this hard. If America could send a man to the moon, shouldn’t the best surgeons in the world be able to build an artificial heart? In Ticker, Texas Monthly executive editor and two time National Magazine Award winner Mimi Swartz shows just how complex and difficult it can be to replicate one of nature’s greatest creations. Part investigative journalism, part medical mystery, Ticker is a dazzling story of modern innovation, recounting 50 years of false starts, abysmal failures, and miraculous triumphs.

Revisado: 08-26-18
There is very little discussion of the artificial hearts themselves, but a lot of discussion about the personalities of the men who made them. There is no attempt to look at the development of the artificial heart outside of the Texas Heart Institute.

Historia
The most powerful political tool of the modern presidency is control of the message and the image. In Republic of Spin - a vibrant history covering more than 100 years of politics - presidential historian David Greenberg recounts the rise of the White House spin machine, from Teddy Roosevelt to Barack Obama. His sweeping, startling narrative takes us behind the scenes to see how the tools and techniques of image making and message craft work.

Full of Left wing spin, infuriating
Revisado: 05-25-16
Would you try another book from David Greenberg and/or Christopher Price?
Greenberg no, Price yes
Has Republic of Spin turned you off from other books in this genre?
His book purports to be an objective look at political spin, yet is relentlessly spinning left wing talking points. Regan bad, Clinton good, Bush bad, Obama good. Climate change is settled science and Bush supported "lunatic fringe" of scientists who claimed there was not a lot of evidence to support it.
Any additional comments?
I don't recommend this book to people who are looking for an objective or balanced look at political propaganda.

He's no Jack Reacher
Revisado: 12-03-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
no
What was most disappointing about Andrew Peterson’s story?
It was compared to Lee Child's Jack Reacher character. He's no Jack Reacher. Rather, he's Jack Reacher for the new millennium. Soft, sensitive, a guy that "needs a hug."
Could you see First to Kill being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Paul Rudd
