Mr. Sowell exposed the soul of America.

Fun stroll through modern era conservative thought
Revisado: 07-09-24
Super fun trying to guess which year each essay was written.
The opinions are as always insightful and incisive, leaving me yelling “right?!” at the audio device more than once.
But honestly, this is not what I need from Dr. Sowell.
I need statistical evidence and analysis from one of the greatest thinkers of the last 80 years; The cool, dispassionate dissection of data that separates the good Doctor from every other right wing blow hard. Works like White Liberals and Black Rednecks that systematically expose cultural and geographical origins and impacts - and the permanence or impermanence thereof.
This was more like listening to your favorite wise old uncle wax philosophical at a barbecue- soundly reasoned, but mostly opinions. Still - it was a treat to sit at Uncle Sowell’s knee for a few hours.

Historia
If you don’t understand communist revolutions, you aren’t ready for what’s coming. The old rules are over. The old order is over. Accusations are evidence. Activism means bigotry and hate. Criminals are allowed to roam free. Citizens are locked up. An appetite for vengeance is unleashed—to deplatform, debank, destroy. This is the daily news, yet none of it’s new. Patterns from the past make sense of our present. They also foretell a terrifying future we might be condemned to endure.

Excellent summary; performance dragged.
Revisado: 07-09-24
If you want an accessible summary of leftist revolutions and their abysmal outcomes, read this book. This is the history that is not taught on purpose because it thoroughly exposes every leftist revolutionary movement as the death machines that they are.
But read it. I think the reader intentionally made this highly needed and riveting content insufferably dull. It’s like watching porn through coke bottle glasses.

Historia
In 1995, James W. Loewen penned the classic work of criticism Lies My Teacher Told Me, a left-leaning corrective that addressed much of what was sanitized and omitted from American history books. But in the decades that followed, false leftist narratives—as wrong as those they supplanted—have come to dominate American academia and education. Now, in the same spirit but updated for 2024, Wilfred Reilly demolishes the scholastic myths propagated by the left, uncovers fresh angles on “established” events, and turns what we think we know about history upside down.

Cooler heads prevail
Revisado: 07-09-24
Systematically addresses the biggest (though certainly not all) of the urban legends that have come to be believed and taught as fact in America’s schools. Read this, and then go to your next school board meeting armed with knowledge, not rumors. Then contact your city council, your county reps, and your state reps. Insist that public schools be a place of learning, not of repeating destructive lies. Fine, fine performance.

For the last several years, we’ve watched as woke political activists have staged destructive protests, destroyed businesses, hurled accusations of racism and white supremacy around as if those terms mean nothing, and publicly bullied and canceled anyone who disagrees with them.

Courage in the palm of your hand
Revisado: 12-12-22
Clearly lays out what Woke is and the consequences if left unchallenged. Then, the author goes further to lay out strategies, self-care, and a thorough reminder of the rights we have and the lengths individuals in the past have done to secure them. We fight not because it is easy, but because it is worth doing.
Well done, Karlyn.
