Great cultivation novel
Revisado: 02-02-21
Mana Master really hit all my buttons in the right way. If your familiar with the genre it has the brutal world where only strength matters, but i loved how the traditional cultivation themes were skillfully blended with harem fantasy. The characters are well crafted and compelling, so I’m looking forward to more entries in this series

Not my favorite in the series
Revisado: 08-17-17
I really wish it was possible to rate a book with 3.5 stars. I thought book 2 Mutation was a little predictable but still good enough that I will go forward with the book 3

The brutal war of extinction enters a horrifying new round as the cyborgs arrive from the Neptune System, in this, the third book of the series. The Highborn are remorselessly crushing the obsolete Homo sapiens. Gambling with humanity’s existence, Supreme Commander James Hawthorne attempts to lure the dreaded Doom Stars into a trap. Social Unity’s combined Battlefleet is the bait. The cyborgs are Hawthorne’s secret weapon. Unfortunately, for Marten Kluge, a vast space battle threatens to take place around Mars.

Another great addition to the Alice series
Revisado: 10-11-15
A fun fast paced action filled space opera. My only negative comment is that the narrator doesn't do the best job at delivering distinguishable voices for the female characters. Hopefully in the next installment Sarah and Jake's poly-amorous relationship will develop whereas in Alice-9 the tension built but never came to a head. If you liked the first Alice you'll love this one

Great fantasy no magic
Revisado: 07-25-15
The second book in the Gentleman Bastards Sequence was entertaining and exciting, I'm just not sure it measured up to the magic of the first book. However I'm willing to give the third book a try I'll let you know when I do.

A wonderful listen!
Revisado: 10-11-14
Any additional comments?
So far this is my favorite book in the RCN series. The book is full of Drake's characteristic blend of political intrigue and edge of your seat space battles. If like me the workings of the matrix have perplexed you, this edition to the series contains an explanation of bubble universes that will have you thinking "ah I finally get it".
While listening to this book I laughed out loud and the scene when Miranda visits Adele brought tears to my eyes (personally the most powerfully emotional scene in the series thus far). With Daniel's well deserved promotion and the disgraced Senator Fobes tagging along for the ride, fans of the series won't be disappointed.
Despite David Drake's insistence to the contrary in the forwards of the previous books, I highly recommend listening or reading them in order. It's the only way to really understand the complex way the characters have grown throughout their careers in the RCN.
-Chris
P.S. If you enjoy the RCN series, I think you will also like "Fire with Fire" and "Trial by Fire" by Charles Gannon. Both have are a similar well written politically driven scifi with complexly developed characters
