Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Characters act like teenagers
Revisado: 08-06-22
I like the story but the main character acts like she is a teenager. She makes assumptions and has absolute faith in those assumptions and won't listen or ask questions. I expect a forty year old to know that everything isn't clear cut and have the ability to listen. I hate books that have middle aged people acting like a twenty year old. So, in my mind I pretend the main character is 20 and then her behavior makes sense and I enjoy the story. But if you're looking for a story about a middle aged woman having a magical midlife crisis then this isn't it.

Historia
I'm one scrappy wizard. As someone with barely a flicker of magic, I've spent my life being mocked and surviving fights with bullies. But when my parents die in an accident, and I find myself responsible for our whole wizard house and family, I know my usual tactics aren't going to cut it. The situation veers from bad to catastrophic when my backstabbing cousin stages a coup and takes my family hostage. I barely manage to flee, but the only supernatural willing to help me is Killian Drake - the most feared vampire in the region.

Love the story
Revisado: 02-11-22
I first read the book a couple years ago and wanted to reread it again because I really enjoyed the story. With limited time to sit and read I instead bought the audible book so I could listen while I did chores. I have found that a narrator can ruin a good story so I was worried about it. I was delighted to discover that the narrator did a great job and I found the story just as enjoyable as the first time I read it! I recommend this if you are looking for a slow burn romance that has more to the relationship than Insta lust and is clean and fun. There is also a well developed plot with people being murdered and questions on who is doing it.

Historia
For twenty-nine-year-old Lola Watson, life is finally looking up: she has fabulous friends, is working her dream job at a popular magazine, and has just inherited a beautiful house from her late aunt. Sure, her love life isn’t in great shape, but she’s got time, right? And so what if her new neighbors are a little too friendly (i.e., incredibly nosy)?

Debated between three or four star
Revisado: 08-29-21
The main character sounds and acts like a very young adult who hasn't grown up yet. Lola is still caught up in her teen anxieties and self centeredness. I imagined the main character as a twenty year old and her sister as eighteen or nineteen and I was able to enjoy the story. Otherwise having a thirty year old woman thinking and acting that way would be pathetic. Also, Hubert comes across as a kind, good-hearted, wimpy, idiot. Not much character development happened but I think the author has great potential and I look forward to seeing if her stories get more depth and authenticity in later years and if the characters become more than one dimensional. Narrator did a fine job.

Historia
Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

Love the story!
Revisado: 04-29-20
I have listened to it four times now and I still love it. The narrator does a great job with voicing the personalities of the characters. I like this series the best so far of all the author's works. It is funny and she does a great job with bringing two very opposite people together and shows how they balance and enrich the other. Thank you Helen and Tanya for a great story!
