Finally, something that makes sense!!
Revisado: 02-06-25
What an amazing concept!
If I hate my body I’m not going to take care of it. And: If I see an overweight person in the store would I ever tell them “You’re fat and disgusting!” NO!! so why do I say it to myself?
I need to love my body exactly as it is right now and once I do I’ll naturally want to do what I can to take care of it.
All that and more is in this book. Your first act of loving yourself can be to read it.

In a compelling, richly researched novel that draws from thousands of letters and original sources, best-selling authors Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie tell the fascinating, untold story of Thomas Jefferson's eldest daughter, Martha "Patsy" Jefferson Randolph - a woman who kept the secrets of our most enigmatic founding father and shaped an American legacy.

A wonderfully pleasant and accurate history lesson
Revisado: 04-25-24
I love it when historical novels are accurate. From the authors notes at the beginning and end, this is based on Thomas Jefferson’s actual letters. I know many people disrespect Thomas Jefferson now because he owned slaves, but unfortunately, in his time- especially in Virginia - most people did. I was happy to see that his daughter and grandchildren went on to become champions to end slavery though, to America’s shame, it wouldn’t happen for many decades.
I’ve listened to many historical novels from Southern areas where the readers accent bordered on annoying- not so in this performance. The narrator did an excellent job and made the story flow by pleasantly.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical novels- A wonderful and pleasant and accurate history lesson

Now even more of an Oz fan!
Revisado: 03-19-24
This was a great book! I wondered all the way through how much was factual and I was delighted to hear the author’s afterword stating that it was based very closely to fact. This made me love it even more! My husband watches “Wizard Of Oz” multiple times each year! Yeah - I know - it’s A LOT! and though I’ve always enjoyed the movie it has been a bit over done in our house. However since reading this book I’m looking forward to watching it yet again with a whole new perspective.
Also, believe it or not I’ve never read the books, but they’re in my wish list and up next!!

From 1501 to 1505, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti both lived and worked in Florence. Leonardo was a charming, handsome 50-year-old at the peak of his career. Michelangelo was a temperamental sculptor in his mid-20s, desperate to make a name for himself. Michelangelo is a virtual unknown when he returns to Florence and wins the commission to carve what will become one of the most famous sculptures of all time: David.

A GREAT “read”
Revisado: 02-16-24
I love this book!! It might be one I add to my library in hard copy, though it might be very different without the wonderful voice of the narrator.
It’s so wonderful to get a backstory of these amazing historical creations. Is it ALL fact? No. But it’s all very entertaining & believable. My son is an artist & the angst is REAL.
I enjoyed pulling up the pieces of art that stared in this book and looking at them anew as they’re being described & the story is being told.
Again, a great great story! Get it & enjoy!

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Revisado: 04-22-22
I LOVED this book! It was probably the most poetic book I’ve ever “read” or more accurately, listened to. The narrator, Rosalyn Landor is amazing. I’m not sure anyone else could do it justice. Highly highly recommend! A side note is that it’s also titled “Corrag”
