For years, the Stranger House has stood in the village of Illthwaite, offering refuge to travellers. People like Sam, a brilliant young mathematician, who believes that anything that can't be explained by maths isn't worth explaining. And Miguel, a historian running from a priests' seminary, who sees ghosts. Sam is an experienced young woman, Miguel a 26-year-old virgin.

A good story - BUT
Revisado: 10-27-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
A good story
Who was your favorite character and why?
Thor. A great but kind manipulator.
Did Gordon Griffin do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
The narration was irritatingly slow, but reasonably good at giving the characters recognizable voices when they spoke.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, because it was too long to listen to all at once.
Any additional comments?
A good story but the narrator detracted from my enjoyment.

Historia
One of the great masterpieces of modern Latin American fiction, Terra Nostra is concerned with nothing less than the history of Spain and of South America, with the Indian Gods and with Christianity, with the birth, the passion, and the death of civilizations. Fuentes skillfully blends a wide range of literary forms, stories within stories, Mexican and Spanish myth, and famous literary characters in this novel that is both a historical epic and an apocalyptic vision of modern times. Terra Nostra is that most ambitious and rare of creations - a total work of art.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Where does Outlander rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Number 1. Well actually the whole series are Number 1.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Claire is so interesting as the main narrator, unable not to take her knowledge into the past but constantly having to check her use of it in the company of those who don't know her history. I guess there's a lot of the author in her character.
Which scene was your favorite?
Claire and Jamie's "wedding".
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I don't know.
Any additional comments?
I've read the whole series and am looking forward to the promised sequel.
