I couldn’t do it! 🙁😨
Revisado: 09-09-20
This book is not for the feint of heart. It’s not even for the strong of heart. Chuck buda fingers your emotions throughout the listen. One minute you are super excited about Zoe’s sinister plans the next you are as depressed as Adian. The complete disgust for yourself is crafted beautifully by Chuck. I loved all of the characters... a bit too much. Chuck paints a world so vivid that it just rips out tour heart when bad things happen to the characters, or more aptly when the characters reflect on what they had just been apart of. Jesus Christ I recommend this to the most deranged and sick out there. You want sex there’s Erotica quite good ones too. You want violence there’s Pay Up And Die great ending fight in that one, it is awesome. I haven’t felt like this for a long time. My heart is low and horrors of this book play in my mind. No other book has made me feel like this. So bravo Chuck for so masterfully ripping my heart out and making me enjoy the sensation but regret the act. Congratulations to Lillie ways for not only reading this and remaining sane but for doing the sequel as well. I am going to watch funny cat videos to try and wash my brain. God damn I love/hate this. 🤨

Apocalypse.... zombies, vampires, werewolves, mutant monstrosities? What is it?
Revisado: 08-28-20
The book was great! The main character is amazingly fleshed out and I really felt as the character, his despairs, his panic, his anger, and his excitement. I was hooked into listening to more. I didn’t like the idea of an apocalypse book but this nocks the concept out of the park. Wayne June’s reading was excellent. He keeps up with the pacing of the story and delivers nice voices that adds a distinct personality to the characters. I am (hopefully) going to love this series.

I thought the book was great. Definitely not something that I expected. The relation between Ryan and Zoe is excellent. The book keeps you guessing who might be the big bad guy and when the reveal happens I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face. Joe Hempel did a good job at keeping the tension and bringing life into the characters really good. I would have loved to see more of Ryan and Zoe and their relationship. This was amazing and I need to check out more Patrick Reuman stuff

The Barner family relocates to Cold Hollow, a quaint town nestled in a Vermont mountain range. They find it to be quite charming, and the inhabitants endearing, except for a few residents. Odd laws are enforced, confrontations begin, and insanity reigns as a madman sits upon his imaginary throne, trying to keep the threads of his dream from unraveling. Will Sophia and Angus Barner be able to protect their children from the malevolence that lurks within the small township?

Cold hollow: A town of fun and adventure
Revisado: 08-04-20
When getting this book I thought that it would be a supernatural story. It was not, but it could keep your interest and make the hours listening skip on by. Emilie Howard paints a great story with the town and its new residents. I really liked the focus on Sophia and her family. The interaction with the town and the family is excellent. I kind of wonder what the next book is going to be, since this one wrapped up so nicely.

Peter hopes those questions will be answered in time but is unsure. The next full moon approaches, and time becomes precious for the residents of the small Midwest township. Dapraved: only slightly, Deadly: most definitely
Revisado: 07-13-20
The story was good if slightly confusing. The strength of the story is the main characters. They are really fleshed out. The story held its pacing throughout all three parts. The three parts read like three separate stories though. Each having tangential relations to one another. It could have been better or the reader to know what characters were in play giving hints to the big bads. When one of the protagonists show up it comes out of nowhere and feels like it was thrown in last second to connect the stories. A bit more time with the first antagonist would have given the audience more knowledge of who the other characters are. Despite my ramblings I liked the ride the story took. I was rooting for the hero’s throughout the entirety of the book. I liked the mystery but thought it needed more clues to them. The narrator did an excellent job. He really gave the characters life. I did catch some reread parts but they weren’t that bad and didn’t take me out of the story. I will be checking out more from the author and the narrator. 👍

Family Traditions: A story of vengeance.
Revisado: 06-15-20
Though the culinary skill wasn’t as decadent as I had come to expect, the pure brutality was more than enough. This story had me reeling from the unforgiving violence. Jon Athan really out did himself with this story of survival and vengeance. I didn’t expect backwoods cannibals can’t really say what I expected. The brother characters I liked. Jed especially when he gets himself into the major roll. Would recommend this to people that can handle their heart strings being pulled when child characters are killed off. I almost couldn’t. The narrator did reread some lines but he was clear and added to the characterization of all the characters.

Killing is my business
Revisado: 06-07-20
I was expecting this story to be vile and soul crushing but I didn’t expect myself to enjoy it. Instead of normal torture porn, which I dreaded, this was torture porn with character. Like if you took death wish and smashed it with hostel. It is surprisingly good. The graphic displays of violence are pretty standard. It’s not paragraphs of grotesque torture but enough to make it pretty vile and extreme. Surprisingly had a good character interaction with “doc” and the people he cared about. The descriptions were rather vivid and helped complete the characters profile. The other characters though were not that well flesh out and you couldn’t really latch on to any of the others. The guy getting off the call was the closest thing to a human with a life outside of the industry. I think a bit more of a development with Benny’s relationship with doc could have been strengthened a bit more so that we could really feel that impact when Benny snitches on him. Was fearing Jon’s book but after reading this one pretty excited to check out more.

Is it all true: listen to the author notes of course it’s true.
Revisado: 05-25-20
The performance was good. Alex kept a sense of tension in his read through. It set up a nice scene when it was needed and kept it around after the actions was done. I liked the ambiguity of the monster and the monster relation to peter. After the first instance I would have ran away think it was a bear. The inclusion of Brendan seemed a bit strange that side story was only there to fuel Peter psychosis. It didn’t add much. It was cool don’t get me wrong but seems more of something that was thrown on after the story was planned out. I liked it more then it may seem and will be checking out more of Chads books.

What vampires do in their down time.
Revisado: 05-25-20
This book was good. Jack de Golia’s performance is excellent he really breaths life into the characters. The first story is fine but Sarah is not a smart person. First she is far too nice to the protagonist considering that she is there to kill a monster. Then she tells the guy that she is part of an organization that hunts and kills monsters. It doesn’t ruin the story and give a bit more info to what is going on. Just thought there would be more hesitation on her end. The second story is great. Being in the head of nick as he goes through his existential is a unique point of view. An exciting and imaginative take on what secrets this world held. Very good little tale. The third story is the best while the others got a smile or a chuckle from me, this one got a genuine laugh. I found myself questioning, like the count, wether or not this was possible. Yes it seems probable enough. It ends with the main character dodging quite the bullet. (hehehe) there isn’t much gore, violence, or even profanity in these stories which surprises me. Despite which they still are an entertaining listen.
