Earnest, intense, captivating.
Revisado: 04-20-23
I listened to Paul on the Lex Friedman podcast before reading this book. I highly recommend it as an accompaniment to this phenomenal book. The narrator is adequate. I would prefere to have heard it in Paul's voice.
A previous reviewer said the book is made up. Were you there? Can you disprove any of Paul's stories? And one said it is full of animal abuse. it's called nature. Please disregard those and dive in. I may even listen again. Paul's writing is vivid and captivating and his ability to make you "see" the jungle through his eyes is magical.

Historia
Since September 11, 2001, the Western world has been preoccupied with Islam and its role in terrorism. Yet, public debate about the faith is polarized. One camp praises "the religion of peace", while the other claims all Muslims are terrorists. Canadian human rights activist Yasmine Mohammed believes both sides are dangerously wrong. In Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam, Yasmine speaks her truth as a woman born in the Western world yet raised in a fundamentalist Islamic home. Despite being a first-generation Canadian, she never felt at home in the West.

Life Altering
Revisado: 09-09-22
Yasmine's brutal life story needs to be shared. don't shut away from the horror that was her childhood. Listen to her and absorb her words. And then take action.

Historia
Secret Service agent Clint Hill brings history intimately and vividly to life as he reflects on his 17 years protecting the most powerful office in the nation. Hill walked alongside Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, and Gerald R. Ford, seeing them through a long, tumultuous era - the Cold War; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy; the Vietnam War; Watergate; and the resignations of Spiro Agnew and Richard M. Nixon.

A clear, concise, emotional and historical ride.
Revisado: 09-02-22
Clint Hill eloquently walks through history. All of these events happened just before I was born. I learned more from his words than all of the history classes combined. A complete treasure.

Historia
He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

campy little romp
Revisado: 06-05-21
MacDonald created an extremely visual
sense of old Florida. His rants on mid century life are as fitting now as then. It was a fun trip to see how people and life hasn't really changed at all. Our 21st century correctness is made to look laughable in his less than delicate prose. On to the next!

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Starts out a bit conventional. Strong charcters
Revisado: 04-17-21
Strong writing for first time author. Narrator having to do women's voices can't across very corny. Made me laugh each time.
