Horrible narration.. cringeworthy
Revisado: 01-01-25
Pretty close to impossible to listen to. I’m not sure what Mr Mikel was trying to accomplish, but it definitely didn’t work. The narration pretty much ruined the entire story line.

Started out great and quickly morphed into silly and eventually ridiculous. I’m extremely disappointed and don’t recommend wasting the hours.

Very strange
Revisado: 01-09-23
I'm a huge Bentley Little fan, but this story had me perplexed. It was not scary and didn't have any of his usual "weirdness" in it. It was dull and seemed to just go on an on. There were way too many "main" characters and there didn't seem to be any cohesiveness. The narration was fine, just an odd story that I struggled to get through.

Caleb Webb is the dictionary definition of disadvantaged and surviving on his own is nothing new. When the apocalypse hits, his rugged skill set for staying alive on the mean streets of Los Angeles comes in handy. Unfortunately, he's on a collision course with the worst criminal cartel in the city, unless someone intervenes.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 01-02-23
I wholeheartedly agree with many other reviewers. The story was good, but literally ruined by the narration. I'll never listen to another audible book by this narrator. I'd give it negative stars if it was possible. I'm not locked into Kevin Pierce for everything, but he certainly has always been the best choice for Mr. Goodwin's stories.

I'm stunned at the amateur effort...
Revisado: 03-27-21
This is pathetic. The actual story line takes a back seat to all the self-adulation. It's quite remarkable and I've never read anything like it. Some things that stood out.. no marriage exists as is described in this book. I'm 61 and I've never heard of any mans' wife permitting their husband to love other women or be emotionally attached as this man describes, outside of a polygamist. Also, there are words to describe a smile other than sweet. This is constant throughout and incredibly annoying and sickening. Last, if you're going tohave your main character point out the literal 6th Commandment, you ought not have him just murdered someone. This is just a few examples of the poor writing/content. I understand that this is the 2nd attempt for this pair of authors and I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt after the first. But I cannot even finish this book. These are just my opinions. If you enjoy it, congratulations, but I'd pass if I could go back. I should ask for my credit back, but I pushed to the halfway point and I think the writers need the money more than me.

Not a review of the story, but for narration
Revisado: 03-16-21
This is some of the worst narration I've heard in my any of my 700 audible titles. If I wrote what I wanted to and provide a realistic and honest assessment, Audible would probably cancel my account. Don't waste your money. Demand better for the hard earned dollars you use to purchase entertainment. All of the previous installments in this series were up excellent. I doubt the author has listened to how a few of her characters were portrayed. It was insulting.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Average
Revisado: 09-13-19
My first impression was that this story was an extension of Firestarter. There was nothing particularly remarkable about this book. Overall, just an average story and not that entertaining. The narrator was good, although some of the impressions were over the top and a little ridiculous. Additionally, I'm not interested in Mr. King's political views and it seems that more and more he has decided there is a need for him to spew them into his stories. I'm not sure why celebrities have decided that they know more about everything than everyone else, but it's grown quite tiresome. While I am sure there are those that love this book, some just because of the author's name, I did not.

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Typical Stephen King.. I’m not sure why they decided to add screeching noise to the performance. Eli Wallach was excellent, just a bit overshadowed by a lousy production.
