So good it hurts
Revisado: 02-07-25
This series is so good it's almost criminal how long each book takes to come out! Reba is the PERFECT VA, and the story is so well told it puts other series to shame, almost nothing can hold my attention for 8 straight hours, but AOABW can. Please work hard and get the next one to us! I can't hold the suspense!

Narrator takes me out of it.
Revisado: 10-11-24
While I enjoy the solo leveling story especially the anime, the narration specifically about the sound effects really took me out of it and I couldn't finish it because of it, also the narration lacks any sense of emotion in the readers voice. Unfortunately although I like the book, I won't be listening to the series because of the narration.

The writing style is so fantastic you immediately lose yourself, the only bad part is I don't know when to look forward to the next volume. I recommend this book to anyone of any age. it's very rare that a book gets perfect scores to me, but this is one of them!

Poor representation of the series
Revisado: 06-24-24
Really enjoy the series, love being able to see the world form over time with the historical callbacks and implementing future knowledge in a magical medieval setting.
This book had none of that sweet gooey goodness, to be down to brass tax, it was a glorified ugly duckling story, except ugly duckling is a dragon. That's it, not an exaggeration, the entire book deals with her not fitting in and how what makes her different saves the day... yay.... not what I was here for,
TLDR:skip this one, you won't miss anything really, he gets a dragon wife and comes home.

Historia
When an ambitious teenage girl from Earth finds herself in a magical realm, she could be the hero—but she'd prefer to be the villain. When power-hungry Everly is reborn into a medieval world where elemental magic rules and she receives her elemental servants—the oddly sadistic Eris and the fun-loving Titania—years earlier than one typically would, she knows she's destined for a command of necromantic magic the likes of which her peers can only dream.

Good idea, poor execution
Revisado: 06-24-24
I loved eve, she played out like a true psychopath, egotistical and completely self interested. Really refreshing to see a villan break the mold and be irredeemable.
For my critiques, it really kinds feels like a teenagers idea of how terrified people act. I mean eve being childish and rubbing it in is par for the character, totally get it. But the 40 year old veteran Templar who has never questioned his mission before, begins passing himself and crying at the threat of death? All of them do this? I really don't mind the "oh don't hurt me" "mwahaha" scene, but it happens often, like every other scene often.
I also see a bit of self insertion of the authors distaste for religion in it, of course eve looks down on these people for her beliefs. But even in description it's framed as a "yeah eve is evil, but these guys are bad for a different reason", same issue with before where I don't mind a bit of it. But when most focal points of the story point back to it, I struggled to not eye roll.
Not quite a critique but there is a considerable amount of torture porn, if you watched redo of a healer don't stress it.
On a bit of a bright note I really enjoyed most of the voices the VA used, especially the two spirits that followed eve around, drew vivid pictures in your head.
TLDR: Author self inserts personal beliefs in quite heavily and leans on the begging for your life trope way way too much. Dope evil Villan tho, wish for more depth. Think it'd be easier to watch as an animal over listening to.

Historia
A certain college girl who's loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Myne, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she's been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don't exist. She'd have to pay an enormous amount of money to buy one.

Narration and character desires
Revisado: 06-23-24
it is such a treat to come across well written characters and story arcs, it's so rare that an author is able to make simple things stand out. You cheer on and feel for the MC for doing something as simple as fetching water for the house and having to make 4 trips just for one bucket. Such a cute mental image that is 100% aided by the excellent narrator really bringing all the characters to life but especially the MC. Awaiting the rest of the series, highly recommend mushoku tensei if you are waiting like I am, a completely different feeling style of isekai but I feel that both authors put an immense amount of love and detail in their worlds that it can be felt.

The best series and voice actor I've ever seen
Revisado: 04-29-24
cliff curts voice acting is so perfect for the series, he always whisks me into watching it in my head, and by far with these series they are my favorite book series ever, the characters feel the most like real people. This is the only book series I have ever marked the date of when the next one comes out. 10/10 I'd give 6/5 stars if I could.
