Historia
In The Power, the world is a recognizable place: There's a rich Nigerian boy who lounges around the family pool; a foster kid whose religious parents hide their true nature; an ambitious American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But then a vital new force takes root and flourishes, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power: They can cause agonizing pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world drastically resets.

Couldn’t finish it.
Revisado: 01-24-18
The narrator had a lovely speaking voice when she wasn’t trying to force character voices. Unbearable to listen to. What language trills their Rs for 5 seconds at a time??? Made me completely lose interest and I don’t even care to read it now.

Historia
This is the story of mankind clawing for survival, of mankind on the edge. The world outside has grown unkind, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they profess to want: They are allowed outside.

The Narration is Horrible
Revisado: 04-26-17
I can't fathom how someone who does male voices like this can be hired. I almost returned it because of her. Read it, don't listen to it, this narrator really hurts the overall story.

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

I would give him 10 stars for his narration if I could. The Grapes of Wrath is a classic, obviously worthy of a high rating, the narration gave it so much life. Will be looking for other books read by him.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

The irascible A. J. Fikry, owner of Island Books - the only bookstore on Alice Island - has already lost his wife. Now his most prized possession, a rare book, has been stolen from right under his nose in the most embarrassing of circumstances. The store itself, it seems, will be next to go. One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

A beautiful story packaged neatly around the love of books. I'll have to order the hardcover because it absolutely must be in my personal library so I can read it again someday.

Great Book, Terrible Narrator
Revisado: 06-11-15
I almost stopped listening because the voice of the narrator was like nails on chalkboard. If I wanted to listen to a screechy, high pitched teen voice, I'd have my niece read to me. Ugh!

One of those rare finds that made my heart feel too full to fit inside my chest. Beautiful.
Also, the narration was spot on. I will definitely be looking for more works read by the same person.
