I was really enjoying this series, and then got to this book. I enjoyed some of the (few and far in-between) action scenes… but that was about it. I felt bored compared to the other books. The story was overlong with the writer trying to get to the depths of everyone's TRUE motives and thoughts. While that can be nice sometimes, in a fast-paced children's series, it felt out of place. Changing it so one of the main characters suddenly stutters and has a love interest was also just… weird (to me, maybe somebody else loved it).
Also, since it is a children's series, the language in this one also took me by surprise. I'm used to seeing/hearing cussing in adult, and even teen novels, but children's series? Again, out of place.
I am going to stick with this series, though. I think having multiple authors and experiencing different writing styles is entertaining and enlightening. I just won't read another book by this particular author.

The False Princess was overall, enjoyable. However, I had a few issues with it. To start with, the narrator took some getting used to... but it WAS possible to get used to and even enjoy listening to her. She has kind of an Australian accent (I could be wrong about that), and lisps a couple times (intentionally I'm sure). It may have been easier to get used to her if the storyline didn't drone on though. Personally, I like books now and again that are rather slow, where much time is taken listening to the character's thoughts, etc. But for those who like action-action-action, this book may be a bit disappointing at the start/middle.
About half way through the book began to pick up speed with various plot twists (loved 'em!), sometimes so much so that I'd have to go back and re-listen to figure out WHAT was happening. I noticed that a few times the story would speed up, then slow down, then speed up.
Toward the end, I had a much better feeling about the book, I liked the wrap-up, I enjoyed how it played out for all the characters. There was a great deal of character development, not just for the main character but for side characters as well. There were some parts of the book that I REALLY enjoyed, and now that it's finished, I look back on it fondly, glad to have listened to it.
As a side note to parents, or those listening with children: this book doesn't really swear, per say, but in the book the nation worships the "nameless god", and (even though he's nameless) the characters use his name in vain quite often, as an exclamation of surprise, disgust, etc.

This book was a most enjoyable listen! :D The narration = AWESOME. The story line = highly entertaining! It took a little while to get into, but once it got started... it was amazing!
NOTE: this book is not really "family friendly". It swears once or twice (not very bad though)... but it discusses some harder topics that wouldn't be the best for children, or even early teens.

Almost everybody who has grown up in Chicago knows about the Thorne Rooms. Housed in the Children’s Galleries of the Chicago Art Institute, they are a collection of 68 exquisitely crafted miniature rooms made in the 1930s by Mrs. James Ward Thorne. Each of the 68 rooms is designed in the style of a different historic period, and every detail is perfect, from the knobs on the doors to the candles in the candlesticks. Some might even say, the rooms are magic....

This audiobook was good. I felt like it took a long time to set the stage up for the actual story to begin, which made it drag on in places. Once it finally began I found myself enjoying it very much. The narration was great- voice actor was strong. It's a very easy-going tale, not scary, but very intriguing. Not a lot of "action" in this book.
Parents please note that this book DOES have a few swear words, and a few others parts where editing for children is advisable.
Overall, I recommend this book. :)

I was SOOO disappointed when I bought this! I am the type to ALWAYS listen first to the sample- except this one time. I love the Mrs Pollifax series with the narrator, Barbara Rosenblat. She is most amazing and has narrated most of the others. This just doesn't have the same magic. THIS audiobook has a mixed cast... and they're not very good(I am biased though), so DON'T buy it unless you LOVE the sample.

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot- though at first it was rather a hard listen because it was so similar to the movie (even though I love the movie) I was kind of bored. But then the story took a twist and I quite enjoyed it! :D The narration was good- and the story was refreshing! It made things in the movie make more sense.

Ella Enchanted is one of my favorite stories! I was hesitant to get the audiobook, as I think the voice of Ella sounds a bit young- but I tried it, and loved it! This is a great audiobook, the storyline cannot be beat! Be sure to LISTEN to the demo before you buy it, and make sure you'll be okay with the voice. ^_^

I'd read many other books by Gail Carson Levine and I was excited for this one... I was NOT disappointed! Had I read the book, I could see myself becoming slightly bored, but listening to it was NEVER boring! The narrator, Sarah Coomes, did a delightful job, and kept the story very upbeat. The storyline itself in enthralling and engaging, full of mystery, lies, confusion and deception. It's totally clean and safe for all ears. I can listen to this one again and again. :)

Historia
Harmony Parker thought animals much nicer than people, and saw everyone she knew as some non-human species. Her father, for example, was most definitely a bald-headed Sea Lion, her mother a tubby, fussy Pouter Pigeon, and her tiresome older sister a Siamese cat. But Harmony's parents would not allow her to have real pets of any kind – not even a harmless gerbil. Then Uncle Ginger arrived from India and gave Harmony a very special present ...

I adore this story! The story-line itself is wonderful, and the narration entertaining (it's in an English accent). It's a good buy for anyone who enjoys listening with kids (or anyone like me who still feels very much like a kid). :)
