Historia
Private enquiry agent Cyrus Barker, along with his partner Thomas Llewelyn, has a long, accomplished history—he's worked with all aspects of society, from the highest (including the Crown and the government) to the lowest (various forces in London's underworld). He's been the target of murder attempts, character assassination, bombings and attacks upon his closest associates but never has he and his agency partner Thomas Llewelyn faced such destruction and potential disaster.

Another successful Installment
Revisado: 04-30-25
I throughly enjoy this series so my review will be biased. The author comes up with another case for B&L to solve full of twists and turns. Great character development as the inquiry agents piece together the case of a missing woman. Very good narration brings things all together. If you enjoy the series, you will enjoy this installment.

Historia
Alexander King and his team were sent to Haiti by the president of the United States as a favor to keep the Haitian president, Samuel Desir, safe in the midst of a volatile political climate. After refusing their services without reason, not only was Desir kidnapped, but King and his team were framed for the job. On the run in a country without allies, things only become more difficult when they step right in the middle of a drug war to control Haiti as a pipeline for cocaine to America. Worse still is when the kidnapping of President Desir and Columbia’s cartels intersect.

The thing about this series is the author gets right to the action. Good story, interesting bad guys and a few twists along the way. Xander and crew are in Haiti on a mission this time. If you enjoy the series, you will enjoy this book.

Historia
There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Good Ballard Installment
Revisado: 04-22-25
I thought overall, it was a good installment. The author went down a dark path for Ballard but left the door open to brighter times at the end. She and Bosch work to unwind a murder that has ties to one of his previous cases. Fast paced, tight story and great narration makes this one hard to turn off, if you like the Ballard series, you will like this installment.

A typical Jack Ryan installment. This time, it was the Chinese that were causing problems. Ryan, John Clark, daughter Katy and Mary Pat got in front of the bad guys. If you like the series, you will like this installment.

Hours later, the man’s cold body lies in the city mortuary, alongside the woman he couldn’t save. And his sister, unconventional nurse Gemma Tate, tracks down troubled police inspector Sebastian Bell to unravel the truth. Sebastian has enough pressure to solve the murder of an aristocratic heiress without Gemma meddling in his case. But the cryptic sentences she brings him from her brother’s notebook could be a crucial lead. If only they knew what “milky way” meant.

First Series Installment
Revisado: 04-13-25
It took me a little time to warm up to the story. Some of this was getting to know the characters, but some of it was the narration which while not bad, did not resonate with me. Just personal preference. I think the story would be helped with faster paced narration. I thought the author laid a good foundation for future stories while working to solve a grizzly murder. It kept me guessing till the end,

If you like the series, you will like this installment. Court usually in a fair amount of trouble. In this book, he is in constant troubles SVR, GRU, FSB…..all the agencies are giving Court trouble. Even organized crime rears its head. The author keeps the action rolling as Court moves on his objective which the listener would know if they listened to the prior installment…all tied together by the always excellent narration that helps bring the story alive. Awesome book.

Standard Installment
Revisado: 03-28-25
I very much enjoy the series and have listened to them all. Unfortunately however, the last couple of installments have been subject to very slow starts. The author gets bogged down in the minutia of daily character like and it takes a long time for something to happen. I feel prior books did not suffer from this. I am also concerned about the main character. The author has saddled her with a baby which makes it difficult to get her out to solve murders outside her own house. That won’t work in the future. She has also lost the connection with Queen Mary giving her assignments. I hope the author has a way around this in the future. I would hate to see the series painted into a corner with no place to go.

A good first out
Revisado: 03-22-25
This is a standard story about spies attacking the US and a joint operation between different military branches to fight it. It is fast paced with little to get in the way of the plot. Good villains and a good cast of good guys after them. If you like fast jets, navy missiles and secretive, lethal spys, this book is for you. The narration is very good and it keeps the story moving along and the listener engaged.

Well Handled Split Plot
Revisado: 03-17-25
The author has spun together a tight story of war and its aftermath. Interesting characters, a hatable villain all tied together across WW1 and in the aftermath of WW2. The story is tied together with great narration that keeps the story flowing. If you like a story about people fighting their demons both past and present, check this story out.

Historia
Follow the Science recounts, in exacting detail, how far the pharmaceutical industry and its supporters in medicine, media, and government will go to protect their profits. Attkisson provides shocking examples that reveal the disturbing callousness our government, public health officials, and top researchers are capable of when it comes to the most vulnerable among us. And she explains, in a graphic sense, how some of the most trusted within our society are willing to commit life-threatening ethics violations.

Wish I didn’t have to know it
Revisado: 03-08-25
If you are looking for an excellent resource on how big pharma shapes the narrative around there products, you found it. A lot of real world examples surrounding vaccines and how they are marketed, used and abused. The book raises some questions for me about vaccines and I am going to be more careful going forward. While the book is not totally anti vax, it does raise interesting questions the reader should educate themselves on before agreeing to take a shot.
