Historia
Should I change careers? Is it time to end my relationship? Can I move halfway across the world? We have to make choices everyday, big and small, but it's the life-changing ones that often cause us to freeze or react too quickly, without thinking. What can we do differently? Laurence Alison and Neil Shortland have spent more than 20 years helping soldiers, police officers, doctors and other professionals in high-stakes environments make tough decisions when lives are on the line. In Decision Time, they show us how those same decision-making techniques apply to everyday life.

One gem with a lot of padding
Revisado: 03-31-22
I had a lot of hopes for this book and it had a lot of information in it but that information was more like a testimony to their work given by themselves. However there was one gem in the entire book I felt which was the key point about making difficult decisions.
That one point stood out as being that when you are struggling with a major decision it is probably because two of your highest values are opposed. And that if you know what your values are of course which they do not go into You can work out what that is and understand the dilemma
So yes that’s the key point. If you are struggling with a decision and cannot work out how to move forward you will probably find that it is because you are having a struggle with two of your highest values opposing each other.
The rest of the information was pretty much basic typology which I suppose for someone that doesn’t know about that kind of thing as in personality types might find helpful.

A wonderful read. Grounded earthy but poetic prose
Revisado: 06-14-18
I found this book impossible to put down. an elegant masterpiece. Best read in decades.have just finished reading the Audible version, which was beautifully and sensitively read by the narrator. One of the most exquisite earthy grounded and yet elegantly written books I have read in a long time. I listened to the novel as I walked my own 'young dog', George, through the national park near our home in Australia each morning. As Karen describes her day with Elvis the rescued Husky, the foxes, bears and other mountain creatures for company - I watched huge kangaroos bounding away at dawn from the tracks we walk. I related to Karen's story so deeply on many levels. READ IT and grow richer. I have now ordered the hard back copy as well as this will remain a long time classic on my shelf. A book to keep and share forever. Thank you Karen. Please write more books. Your prose is of the best of these times.

As business professionals, we often frequent mixers and networking events, collecting and exchanging business cards with the hopes of connecting with those who may benefit from what we have to offer. But what if you had a physical book, in lieu of a business card, to act as a polished product for your business? When it's done right, there's something about becoming a published author and creating a quality book to represent your brand that opens doors to new opportunity and expansion.

Historia
The Artist's Way has helped more than a million people access their creativity and realize their dreams. Now, authors Mark Bryan, Julia Cameron, and Catherine Allen extend and expand the original Artist's Way tools in an all-new program specifically designed to encompass the world of the workplace. The authors asked hundreds of businesspeople to tell them the things that concerned them, receiving such heartfelt questions as: How do I stay creative in a hostile and competitive environment? Remain creative despite criticism? Clarify and apply my strengths to my work? Overcome the depression I feel at my job? Handle an impossible workload? This audiobook answers these question and many more. The Artist's Way at Work will help you thrive at the job you now have, move into the career you truly want, or launch the business of your dreams. It combines the strength of three fields: the art world, the entrepreneurial world, and the corporate world. The Artist's Way at Work will give you a more satisfying, fully creative life in which you will feel a sense of wholeness, not fragmentation, a sense of cooperation, not competition. This audiobook will help you become more authentic, more productive, and better able to see and speak your truth in all facets of your life.

Excellent for re-igniting the flame of creativity
Revisado: 01-16-16
Would you listen to The Artist's Way at Work again? Why?
Yes, and in fact I have gone on to purchase all the other books in this series and am enjoying 'the revision' as Julia Cameron reaffirms the path of getting back in touch with what your original intentions were as a young creative.
Any additional comments?
I have been a successful artist for more than 3 decades and have many ups and downs, struggles and battles. The most significant one has been recent where in my mid 50's I can see the finish line and am wondering what on earth I have been doing all this time. A long suppressed desire to write has never stopped haunting me. Julia Cameron's real life story of success as a playwright, director and writer, is evidence of her qualification to really KNOW this creative persons problem. She later found herself needing to be a musician and so she followed this dream also. Why should ones life be of a single dimension creatively? It does not add up! Creative means 'creative'!
Being an artist for a living does not necessarily mean you are 'in the zone of creativity'. In fact much of the time you find yourself just slugging through process. Limits others place on you - the system of art places on you - can have you seriously questioning why you bother when being 'creative' is no longer what you are doing.
Julia Cameron's book gave me a series of practical check lists, real activities, concrete things I could do to try to 'work my way back' to my true creative goals. As a result I now have a new method or 'practise' I can apply - through the life time exercises she gives. Things like 'The Morning Pages', The Artists Date, and the Daily Walk - sound all very simple but what the process and discipline of doing them does - if you are open hearted and honest in the process - is staggering.
I saw a negative review here - which surprised me, however it may well depend upon what you expect from a course and where you are at in how you accept the information.
I do sense that this course works particularly well for experienced artists/musicians/writers who have lost their way and need help to get back on the creative road. However I have 2 friends who have taken it on and are having huge shifts in their 'stuckness'. One is not an artist, but a picture framer. He is astounded by what is happening to him in his early 60's as far as opening up his emotions by going through the steps given. For me this book was anything but 'a mess'! It was clarity central. Thank you Julia Cameron. A great read, one that has given me new life skills.
