Historia
Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except… Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says. But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

Good story, narrator was hit or miss depending on character
Revisado: 02-15-25
Another Frieda hit. I was a bit confused by one of the final twist, I almost feel like I have to re-listen to the book in order to fully appreciate that specific storyline. The narrator did a great job transitioning from one character to the next, except for the male character's voices. Not only were they all the same tone and expression, but they made the male characters sound extremely unappealing, which is ironic since they were supposed to be heartthrobs. They sounded like complete creeps and very reminiscent of the forced voice that Christian Bale used Batman. Other than that, which made me wince every time, it was an enthralling listen.

Enjoyed the concept/The thrill was anticlimactic
Revisado: 08-04-21
Interesting at first. I struggled to stay finish it towards the end, but the story was captivating enough to keep me engaged long enough to see it through just to know what all they mystery was about. It became difficult to keep up with characters and their names, especially in relation to flashforwarding dates and jumping from location to locations. I do suppose it would have not been as much of a problem had I been reading it instead of listening to it.

Best fiction audiobook ever!
Revisado: 01-15-19
My husband began listening to this book during a roadtrip and we were just addicted to it. We finally reached the city and weren't able to find the time to drive a long enough distance together in order to finish the lSt few chapters, but 10-20mins at a time, we finally did it. It did not disappoint! I don't think it was written to be a comedy, but it had us chuckling the whole time. It was deep and instrospective, I'll be purchasing the hard copy in order to be able to highlight some thought provoking phrases that are still extremely relevant to the human psyche even now in modern times. Also, the narrator is amazing.

Historia
Our ancestors crossed deserts, mountains, and oceans without even a whisper of what anyone today might consider modern technology. Those feats of endurance now seem impossible in an age where we take comfort for granted. But what if we could regain some of our lost evolutionary strength by simulating the environmental conditions of our forbears? Investigative journalist and anthropologist Scott Carney takes up the challenge to find out: Can we hack our bodies and use the environment to stimulate our inner biology?

Historia
A best seller in its native Canada, Drunk Mom is a gripping, brutally honest memoir of motherhood in the shadow of alcoholism. Three years after giving up drinking, Jowita Bydlowska found herself throwing back a glass of champagne like it was ginger ale. It was a special occasion: a party celebrating the birth of her first child. It also marked Bydlowska's immediate, full-blown return to crippling alcoholism.

Raw, bold, and deep.
Revisado: 09-18-18
I loved this story so much, I'm going to have to purchase it in print. I struggled at first with the formatting of the book, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to enjoy it seamlessly. I found the story to be empowering, brave, and raw. I feel like it was left to the reader to interpret the significance of each scene, and for me, it offered many opportunities for introspection. The characters were thoughtful, philosophical, curious, and intellectuals without pretense. It's a modern story attempting to tackle some of humanity's timeless questions and I feel like it did well with such a grand task. I also appreciated the narrator's attempt at setting different tones for different character's voices. I will be recommending this book for sure, but not to everyone. It's a story everyone should hear, but not one that everyone will understand its depth. I am grateful to the author for writing it, it was the exact quality of thought provoking material I've been in search of lately.
