Pulled me back into listening to audiobooks again after taking a break for a few years
Revisado: 05-25-23
I loved it! It kept me interested the whole way through. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to enjoy the narrator to begin with but she grew on me. I wouldn’t mind finding more books narrated by her. The book itself wasn’t too long or overdone like a lot of titles in this genre seem to be. I never felt like the story was dragging on or taking up unnecessary time with added filler and fluff. The story was well thought out and didn’t leave any unanswered questions.. just the way I like it. I definitely did not expect the big twist at the end. This story got me excited to dive back into my existing audible library.

Historia
Addiction starts like a sweet lullaby sung by a trusted loved one. It washes away the pains of the day and wraps you in the warmness of the womb where nothing hurts and every dream is possible. Yet soon enough, this warm state of bliss becomes a cold shiver, the ecstasy and dreams become nightmares, yet we can't stop listening to the lullaby. We crave to hear the siren song as it rips us apart.

Horrific in the best way
Revisado: 02-12-20
I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I always love a good collection of short stories, especially when the genre is horror. But I’ve found that these horror collections tend to be a hit or miss, with miss being the usual outcome. However, Lullabies for Suffering proved to be a breath of fresh air. I can honestly say I loved every single one of the stories.
Each story is unique and each brings its own methods of shock and horror. I believe my favorite of all was the tale about the addict who was asked to assist with a favor for his drug dealer. That one actually gave me nightmares.
I never felt bored or lulled by any of the events and the narrator was good too. I may go back and listen to this one all over again, something I very rarely do.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed this book in it’s entirety. So if you’re scanning reviews, looking for that deciding factor let this be it. Go ahead and get it. You won’t be wasting a credit, or your money.

Historia
My name is Blair Robertson. After years of ghost hunting, I'm finally ready to hang up my hat and try something new, or at least that's what I keep reminding myself every night before I go to bed. I mean, I still haven't told Jake or Ian...yet! And well, Shane is trying to figure out how to get me to stay. It's the main reason I'm doing one last show. To prove him wrong. And I mean, nothing can go wrong with that, right?

Cheesy and lacking any real substance
Revisado: 01-29-20
I received a free copy of this book at my request. This is my voluntary review.
I tried so hard to like it. I mean I really wanted to like it, but the dialog just seemed very surface level to me. Like it was lacking any real substance and was written very quickly. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all bad. I just couldn’t get past it. The interaction between the characters was downright cringy. It reminded me of the conversations I’ve overheard between groups of teenagers who haven’t yet fine tuned the skill of flirting. A little too dramatic.
Needless to say, it just wasn’t for me. I like a story with a little more depth, some real problems to solve. That’s all I have to say about that.

Some new stories I haven’t heard before
Revisado: 01-22-20
I am leaving this voluntary review after receiving a free copy of this book at my request.
As a true crime fanatic I’m always down to listen to a collection of “horror” stories. That being said, horror tends to be a hit or miss for me. It seems that the same handful of stories are continuously being retold again and again, nearly word for word with no new information. Fortunately this book did offer a few accounts that were new to me.
It highlights some interesting stories with a good bit of information, enough to keep the listener’s interested without seeming to ramble on.

A serial kidnapper is preying upon women. He abducts them and then locks them in one of the cages dangling from the ceiling in a soundproofed basement. There, he sits quietly and just watches them, returning night after night, hoping he'll be in the room at the moment his beautiful captives finally starve to death.

Revisado: 11-09-19
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my voluntary honest review.
....Just wow! I honestly didn’t expect to love this book so much. It’s absolutely loaded with nonstop action, with a nice dash of gruesome detail. Strand’s descriptive writing style is great. The entire time I was listening, I kept wondering how in the world this could possibly end. I loved the ending as well. I actually felt like I’d watched a movie when it was over.
If you’re a fan of horror or true crime, there’s no way you won’t love this book!

Great for October!
Revisado: 11-05-19
At my request, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I was so happy to get the chance to listen to this book during the month of October, though it would still be great any time of the year. It really put me in the mood with a spooky vibe. I can be pretty hard to please when it comes to short story compilation books, especially when they’re supposed to be spooky, but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one.
I can think of two stories I didn’t particularly care for, but it wasn’t that they weren’t good. Their setting and subject just weren’t of my interest, and therefor they lost it. Overall I think this is great book! And I would love to find some others that can match its standard. Will be listening again when next October rolls around.
Definitely worth the credit or the money! Get it!

A great introduction to the series!
Revisado: 10-22-19
At my request, I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
This book was pretty intense. It’s short, but I believe it was meant to be that way. It introduces the series’ main character, Anna, in all her diabolical glory;
Seemingly a sweet little girl who’s been traumatized by dying and being brought back to life, she enters a group home for kids like her to continue a new type of therapy. Events quickly change and the true nature of her resuscitation and recovery is revealed.
That’s all I can reveal for now, as I don’t want to spoil the book for any potential readers. I will say that I’m very much looking forward to the rest of the series.
I highly recommend Stadler House to anyone who loves horror, suspense, and thrillers. 👍🏼👍🏼

Spookier because of its personal feel
Revisado: 10-22-19
I enjoyed each of these stories, each in their own way. I love a good anthology and I can appreciate when the stories are told from the eyewitness’s perspective, but I also value the fact that these aren’t super lengthy. There’s a good variety here. A little something for everyone.

A nice collection
Revisado: 10-18-19
At my request, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my voluntary honest review.
I particularly enjoyed this book because unlike most other horror collection writers, this author included a few cases of missing people that disappeared without a trace, also under very mysterious circumstances...The sort that would be included in a Missing 411 book. There were a few stories included that are pretty widely reported on, at least for someone who lives and breathes true crime and horror, but for the most part the stories were new to me.
The author gave just the right amount of detail. Not too much, not too little. If you find yourself here, reading this, go ahead and spend the credit to get this book. I’m Im positive you’ll enjoy this collection.

A nightmare of a fairytale 🖤
Revisado: 10-06-19
I must say, this has been my absolute favorite book I’ve ever received from Audible. I wish it could’ve gone on for longer, but it is perfect as is. I listened to it all in one sitting. Right from the start, I knew I couldn’t walk away until the end. The gothic setting, the beautiful accents, the horrific accounts of being visited in the night... I loved it all. I’ll be looking for more like this in the days to come. Perfect choice for October. 🖤
