Very Interesting

Jeff Wheeler is a masterful storyteller and I'm amazed, after reading and listening to many of his other books, at the depths of his imagination. I love that I have absolutely no idea where and when the plot twists and turns are coming. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.

While some parts are not very realistic, and some are too graphic for me, I do enjoy the characters, the humor, and the audio performance of this series. I will listen to more, but need a short break with something a little more light-hearted before I begin the next one.

Another Good Read (or listen)

I enjoyed the fourth book in this series, but I felt it got off to somewhat of a slow start. I didn't find it quite as exciting or entertaining as the others, but still worth the read (or listen).

Good but graphic

i really enjoy the audio version of this book. The performers are great. Konrath's characters are intersesting and entertaining. The plot is good with lots of action and excitement, even if it is a little farfetched. My only issue with the book is that it is so graphic in parts that I can barely stomach it. I don't think it will keep from listening to more though.

Good but very graphic

I liked this book, but there were parts that were so graphic I wasn't sure I could stomach it, so fair warning. I liked the characters and the humor a lot and it had a good plot if you're into following serial killers. I will listen to the next installment of the "Jack" Daniels series, but I'll have to throw in a light, fun read first.

Just okay

I had a hard time wanting to finish this one because I didn't find it all that interesting. Then when two of the characters finally consummated their relationship, there were still two hours of the book left. All I could think was how could this possibly go on two more hours? I finished it but became bored. I did very much like the fact that the characters (men and women) found a way to combat sexual harassment and send the message that it is never okay or appropriate. I think more people need to hear that message.

A story of hope

I wasn't too sure about this book from the beginning, but I am very glad I kept listening. I love the way it teaches us a lesson about forgiveness, not just for others, but ourselves as well. A sweet reminder that no matter how bad our lives are (or have been) there is always room for healing and kindness.

Fun

I find Lee Goldberg's books to be entertaining and Ashes Never Lie was no exception. I like the characters and their dialogue, I like the element of mystery, and I like the humor. I also like the fact there aren't too many characters so I don't get lost trying to figure out who was who when I pause the audio book and come back to it.

When I first started listening to this on audio I thought maybe I made a mistake downloading it. I usually listen to crime fiction and courtroom drama. I sure am glad I stuck with this one! What a wonderful, beautifully written story. All the elements are woven together so perfectly with such great characters and a fantastic happy ending. When an author writes so well it touches my emotions and makes me angry, joyful, sad, outraged, etc., then that is my definition of a great read! I will be recommending this book to my book club.
