Historia
The story of the wars and conquests initiated by the first Crusade and its successors is itself so compelling that most accounts move quickly from describing the Pope's calls to arms to the battlefield. In this highly original and enjoyable new book, Christopher Tyerman focuses on something obvious but overlooked: the massive, all-encompassing, and hugely costly business of actually preparing a crusade.

Lots of info but ultimately inaffectual

If it weren’t for the fact that it was an audio book, I don’t think I would have gotten through it at all. The narrator while pleasant had a hard time keeping my attention. There are spots that are repeated due to bad editing which doesn’t surprise me with how dry the material is.

Historia
Auras empowering the body to superhuman status. Invocations tearing the land asunder. The war has arrived. The necromantic armies are on the warpath and nowhere is safe—even the sanctuary of the flying dungeon has been threatened. The leadership of nearly all the sentient races has been wiped out, and only the people most suited to repelling the advancing darkness have an intact monarchy. Cal learns quickly that the primary threat is not the far-off war, but the actions of those entrusted with protecting the population.

Great story from a budding author

The story as always is interesting. The characters are fun to follow. I wish the author the best as he improves his writing style. A lot of telling but not showing. The story will only get better as he improves.

Historia
Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

Critical failure rolls a one
Revisado: 04-04-15
This is by far the worst story I've listened to. I can accept that a character or two is defined by their cursing. I can even come to terms with all of the characters curse profusely. However when the narration uses it, I call a foul. There story is more like a cooky tv episode from the seventies. The flow is choppy and the metaphors are childish and unimaginative. I kept hoping for character development but received none. For all my trouble I've got a shut the door ending with a sign hanging on it that reads 'never ever open this door again'.

Great book
Revisado: 03-22-13
What did you love best about Dead Beat?
The twist at the end was priceless but so Harry Dresden.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mouse with Carlos Ramirez clinching the fave guest character. Mouse always seemed to know what to do and who to like and not like. Makes you wonder if he is more than just a mutt. Ramirez was fun to hear, loved the accent the reader gave to him.
Would you listen to another book narrated by James Marsters?
Yes, definitely
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Stones and bones, here comes Harry again.
Any additional comments?
All was well except for two seconds in the second part that was all jumbled up and unlistenable.
