Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Interesting but Goggins’ incessantly arrogant
Revisado: 07-20-19
I have lots to say about this book. Thoughts below in no particular order.
• Goggins’ life story is undoubtedly interesting but his inherent arrogance heavily detracts from his impressive feats. Could do with a huge piece of humble pie.
• The intermittent interviews are annoying especially hearing Goggins’ blab more about being his own hero bla bla. The narrator also annoyingly eggs him on
• The ‘challenges’ posed to listeners throughout are not my cup of tea but can be easily skipped
• The stories shared are interesting but focuses so heavily on his athletic achievements. No talk ever about his deployment time, his own child, his three divorces. I know this is personal and does not have to be shared but he conveniently glosses over this and gets straight back into raving about himself. Gives the listener the impression that he doesn’t address any of his (non-athletic) ‘failures’
• I really hate his message of pushing yourself beyond contentment to the point of pain and hurt and sacrifice. He brags about running on broken legs and doing pull ups with raw hands and sleeping only 3 hours a night so he can continue to train. I fear the message this sends to people that their present lifestyles are insufficient. He preaches his unrealistic and drastically harmful lifestyle upon the listener which I hate.
• Overall, interesting insight into Navy SEAL entry process and some obscure athletic events but so far from the life changing book it’s described as being

For kids / teens but still enjoyable for adults
Revisado: 06-23-19
I loved the computer game as a kid so was happy to overlook the reviews saying it’s a kids book. Simple and predictable but still enjoyable. Good one to listen to with your kids.

Boring compared to to kill a mockingbird
Revisado: 06-12-19
Reese was brilliant. Plot was a let down. Little suspense. No mockingbird that’s for sure.

So underwhelming
Revisado: 04-06-19
Thought I’d really enjoy it. Quite plotless. Last hour was good, wish whole book had been like that. A lot of bland background information that dragged. Would have preferred story to focus on Romy.
