Historia
To everyone who knows them, best friends Miel and Sam are as strange as they are inseparable. Roses grow out of Miel's wrist, and rumors say that she spilled out of a water tower when she was five. Sam is known for the moons he paints and hangs in the trees and for how little anyone knows about his life before he and his mother moved to town. But as odd as everyone considers Miel and Sam, even they stay away from the Bonner girls, four beautiful sisters rumored to be witches.

Lovely
Revisado: 07-17-17
A beautiful story, reflective of the authors' life experience and that of her husband. Surreal and poetic.
I loved When the Moon Was Ours because it was both complex and simplistic. It had elements of magic and mystery, while still feeling down to earth and homey. I felt like I was at home, in the kitchen, listening to my grandmother tell a story passed down from generation to generation.
I did not understand when I started this book that two of the central characters were transgender. Following their storylines, and listening to their emotions and struggles and fears; it was just a beautiful story.
The cultural influences of both Latinx and Middle Eastern cultures was interesting and creative. To have the legends of La llorona and the cultural concept of Bacha Posh woven into the story just made it all the better.
Raviv Ullman and Bailey Carr were both phenomonal narrators. They elements they added to the surrealism of the book were beautiful. I loved it.

Emotional
Revisado: 07-05-17
Cold Dream Dawning didn't draw me in like the previous A.R. Kahler books have, but it was still great, and has me wanting to finish the trilogy.
Amy McFadden is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators. This is the 7th book I've listened to her and she is just perfect.
SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT
It was mostly just very depressing to see where Viv has ended up in life. She was a character one couldn't help but get attached to in the Immortal Circus trilogy, and to see her fate unfold was so sad.
Kingston's fate was equally depressing. To know how much preparation he had put into his home and the family he had hoped to have. It gave me such a sense of heartache.
The Pale Queen trilogy is full of heartache and great character development.

Historia
Murdered contortionists aren't exactly what Vivienne signed up for when she ran away to join the circus. But like most things under the big top, nothing is what it seems. With a past she can't quite remember, Vivienne finds that running away forever might not be as appealing as it once sounded - because forever means something quite different at the Cirque des Immortels.

Enjoyable Quick Listen
Revisado: 04-05-17
What did you love best about The Immortal Circus?
So, I accidentally read the first book of the sequel trilogy, Pale Queen Rising, before listening to The Immortal Circus. But it kind of worked. It made me want more backstory. So I came to listen to The Immortal Circus, and it did not fail to deliver. I was constantly surprised, confused, excited. It was interesting and had just enough twists to keep you wanting more.
What did you like best about this story?
See above
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Since this is the second book I've listened to narrated by Amy McFadden, I have gotten used to her style. I enjoy it now. She has a frank, wry style of narration. It works for these characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Welcome to the Circus, where all your dreams become nightmares."

Revisado: 05-31-16
Would you listen to Voyager again? Why?
Definetely. It's so well performed and keeps you guessing.
What did you like best about this story?
You never know exactly what is going to happen next. Gabaldon manages to keep everything fresh, new, and unexpected. So many twists I was not expecting.
Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Davina is fabulous. Every character unique and genuine. You can barely tell it's the same person voicing each one!
If you could take any character from Voyager out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Hard to say. Claire most likely. She would have so much to tell!

Cliche
Revisado: 05-17-16
What would have made The Hospital: The FREE Short Story: The First Mountain Man Story better?
The themes in the mini story seemed rather overdone and laughable.
Gus was an interesting character as a kind of anti-hero. Unexpected. But the crazed nurse, abandoned hospital, zombie babies, were all rather cliche and I found myself laughing more than feeling creeped out or even scared.
What could Keith C. Blackmore have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Keith is an excellent narrator, 10/10, would recommend.
Which scene was your favorite?
None were very memorable.
What character would you cut from The Hospital: The FREE Short Story: The First Mountain Man Story?
Probably Alice. The whole character was just cliche and overdone.

Living the Story
Revisado: 05-17-16
If you could sum up Wizard's First Rule in three words, what would they be?
Engrossing. Epic. Magical.
What other book might you compare Wizard's First Rule to and why?
There are a lot of similarities in plot to Sword of Shannara or Lord of the Rings. A lot of epic journeys and ethereal creatures, as well as interesting subplots and deep, rich history for the lands and characters created.
What does Sam Tsoutsouvas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Sam Tsoutsouvas is my favorite narrator now, after listening to this book. I was bitterly dissapointed that the other Sword of Truth books were not narrated by him. He really puts his all into the story. Bringing me to tears one minute, scaring me the next. Every single character has a unique voice, tone, personality, that he perfectly alters every single time. It was amazing to me how one man could perfect so many different characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was.

Over and Over and Over Again
Revisado: 05-17-16
What did you love best about The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep?
That it works? My 5 year old has had trouble sleeping for the past 2 years now, and I bought this book on a whim one night, and from then on, she's been out like a light before the book ends. We listen to it every night.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The story itself really isn't interesting. I don't think it's meant to be, though. It's supposed to be quiet, and soothing.
Have you listened to any of Fred Sanders and Kathleen McInerney ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
