Phenomenal Narrator

What an incredible performance by Christopher Ragland and an equally wonderful book. I was captivated and on the edge of my seat the entire time. This 22+ hour audiobook flew by! I was shocked until the very last minutes by the twists, turns and shocking revelations! 5 Stars!

Not a fan

I really wanted to like this! The celebrity cast drew me in and really they were the only thing I liked in this confusing, boring story. I'm sure there is some deep meaning I am missing, but I honestly have no idea what the story was about and what happened. I know it was about the death of Lincolns son, but that's the extent I got it. I'm an avid reader and am certainly not an idiot, but this book flew right over my head.

This was cute but flawed

I am solely reviewing the narration here. It was nice to have multiple readers since there was more than one main character plus one was a boy and one a girl. The problems I have with the narration are 1) The narration was way too slow. I had to speed it up and it still felt slow. 2)The woman narrating 17 year old Natasha sounds like she is 40. It's fine to be 40, I'm in my 30's but it's strange to hear such an adult voice narrating a 17 year old. 3) Some of the accents were done very poorly. I know I sound like a harsh critic, but I think that the audio industry is so large now that it is possible to find the perfect narrator for each story. These guys and gal just weren't the right fit.

Love this!

Anyone who loves to read wishes their favorite author had written more or will write more in the future. If I had a magic Kindle that opened other "UR's" I would never leave my house. This short story was inventive and reminded me of The Twilight Zone. I love Stephen King and I how there is an "UR" of his secret works out there somewhere for us to discover. Great narration too!

Boring

After the wonderful reviews I read about this book, I was very hopeful that it would be a good story. Unfortunately, I struggled to get through it. I never understand a story in which all of the main characters face what they consider to be challenges and I consider to be normal life. Throughout the book I kept thinking to myself, get over it. Lydia hates that her family loves her too much and that her mom projects her unfulfilled dreams on her and her brother Nath isn't loved enough. The person of interest in her death has an odd story arc which I won't spoil but it just didn't seem to have any importance other than slight shock value. The author references tears falling on paper so many times I kept trying to look into the meaning further to see if I was missing something. Maybe I can't understand the characters anguish because I am not of mixed race descent, or maybe there just wasn't enough story here for me. Or maybe I didn't understand the difficulty of growing up in this time period? I'm not quite sure. But I didn't enjoy this book. Narrator was ok. I have listened to her in other audio books and have enjoyed her more there.

Waste if Time

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The narration was terrible. The book content may be alright on its own, but listening to it was terrible.

Would you be willing to try another one of Zane Sanchez’s performances?

Definitely not. Audiobook narration is not the career path for Zane Sanchez. The poor guy has a speech impediment and the cadence of his reading is incredibly tedious. His pronounciation of words is incorrect. For example, the word captivates was pronounced CAT-ivates.

Any additional comments?

Dumbest book ever. I only listened to get me through to my next Audible credit and because it was free. Thank God it was only an hour and a half long. The book may have been cute had I read the paper version but the audio was so bad I cringed getting through it. Next!
