fantastic premise with unfortunate execution

The story had some very strong moments, but I was unimpressed with the sour dialogue, and especially the tired, stereotypical relationship dynamic between the main character and his fiance...
Honestly, even some the best moments in the writing were completely ruined because of the narrator. Anytime he does a woman's voice, he just gets louder and whiny. I wonder if the narrator dislikes women. I can't imagine portraying them like that if you don't.

got it because I really enjoyed Kate McKinnon, and I wasn't surprised that it went beyond my expectations. such a great cast! full of wits and talents and excitement. so much fun.

I was wrong

I thought surely the hours that I've spent with Ivy and Ren would be made worth it by the end of this book. I kept going because I thought, it has to get better.
by the end of this book, who am I kidding throughout the entire thing, I was groaning and screaming and yelling for it to stop. I was so disappointed with how vapid and irritating the characters were that it just makes me want to set my phone on fire.
A couple times in the story, Ivy says, that sounds like the plot of a fantasy story. like, getting all meta or whatever. I just want to slap her. I tried, but it just... God I hate this series.
and the narrator does a wonderful job for feminine voices. I love her feminine voices. most of the male voices that she does sound... unintelligent. :(

had a real hard time with this one. I was pretty excited about the premise, but the main character is not a smart person. and that's being generous. I was disappointed with her every step of the way, and maybe I was supposed to be.

This brand is satire and may have been very funny 3 years ago, but it has gotten significantly less so since that Cheeto has been in office. it's well written, and good satire, but a little tone deaf under current political circumstances.

the male narration

the male narration was so bad I couldn't get through it. monotonous and terrible. when he did female dialogue it was the ultimate deal breaker.

I didn't like the main character . I get the feeling you were supposed to think that she was tough on bullies, probably because she said that like six times, but not a bully herself. Compassionate? I guess. she just seems kind of dumb though. Certain concepts and events we're very interesting, but they didn't really go anywhere. I honestly found it kind of hard to finish. the ending was a bit disappointing as well.
