Historia
The average Christian in America does not know what his own religion teaches, nor does he care. He may call himself “Christian”, but he lives his life exactly as he wishes, making no attempt to conform his conduct to the commands and tenets of his religion. Daily Wire writer Matt Walsh confronts his fellow Christians in this bold, clear-eyed book that serves as an urgent reminder of Matthew 7:13 - "For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

love Matt Walsh!
Revisado: 02-14-23
Best selling LGBT+ children's book author, Matt Walsh, accurately diagnoses the problem with American Christianity today. There were moments when I cringed at his description of my local parish and the state of my soul. My only criticism is that it was not narrated by Sweet Daddy Walsh.

skip the lecture on the Star of Bethlehem
Revisado: 05-15-19
the lecturer promotes the myth that Christmas was originally a pagan festival honoring the sun. He is also clearly unfamiliar with Biblical material, wrongly assuming that the Magi are named and that the little drummer boy is mentioned.

Historia
For the past few hundred years, most of what we’ve been taught about the native cultures of North America came from reports authored by the conquerors and colonizers who destroyed them. Now - with the technological advances of modern archaeology and a new perspective on world history - we are finally able to piece together their compelling true stories. In Ancient Civilizations of North America, Professor Edwin Barnhart, Director of the Maya Exploration Center, will open your eyes to a fascinating world you never knew existed - even though you’ve been living right next to it, or even on top of it.

Human Sacrifice is Savage.
Revisado: 12-29-18
lecture 23: "They captured a teenage girl from a neighbouring village, tied her naked to post, and shot her with arrows... but they certainly weren't a group of bloodthirsty savages!"
really? REALLY?!
I'm so tired of the portrayal of MY ancestors as bloodthirsty savages while gross barbarities such as cannibalism and human sacrifice are elided over with so much ease. Either judge both sides on equal terms or don't judge them at all.

not Jane Austen's best work. predictably enough, the heroine marries her true love, but he lacks the charm of Mr. Darcy or Mr. Knightly.

Throughout these lectures, Professor Koester focuses on what John actually wrote. what his situation tells us about his meaning, how that meaning can be applied to our own lives, and how contemporary biblical scholars relate Revelation to the modern world.

so so
Revisado: 11-19-18
Somehow he made St. John's Apocalypse sound boring. I didn't expect him to agree with my own beliefs on every point (for example I do believe that this book was written by the Apostle John) but his interpretation seems too much like an attempt to make this text palatable to 21st century Americans.

Historia
Nearly everyone in the Western world is familiar with the stories in the book of Genesis. Its language is simple. Its powerful sentences are short. And its messages glisten with clarity. But is it possible that the understanding of the book of Genesis we've all grown up with isn't as complete as we'd like to believe? That its deceptively simple sentences and surface appearance hide from contemporary readers a purposeful and intricate structure designed to let its depth and detail and implication resonate with the readers and listeners of its own time?.

Professors Cook and Herzman provide you with an illuminating introduction to one of the greatest works ever written. One of the most profound and satisfying of all poems, The Divine Comedy (or Commedia) of Dante Alighieri is a book for life. In a brilliantly constructed narrative of his imaginary guided pilgrimage through the three realms of the Christian afterlife, Dante accomplished a literary task of astonishing complexity. In these twenty-four lectures, as you follow Dante on his journey, you'll learn how medieval literature offers insights into fundamental questions.

The Commedia for Modern Readers

Wonderful
Revisado: 06-27-17
I read the entire Comedian twice before listening to this course. After this course I found myself reading it all over again, amazed at the insights and allusions found within its inspired pages. It has revolutionized the way I think about politics, the cult of celebrity, and the nature of freedom. I thus resolved to read Dante once a year until I meet him in paradise.
