Historia
In the age of belief, magic is a myth. But when an apocalyptic crusade comes to the remote border of Gul Kana, that belief is shattered, as is the tenuous peace that held the Five Isles together. Now the prophecies that were used to justify this war are unraveling, revealing a hidden agenda while the world lies in the wake of the degradations of this war. But a slim skein of hope resides within the hidden truths, long kept secret and scattered throughout the isles—truths less reliant upon prophecy than heroism and great sacrifice.

Do not waste your time, nothing matters, prophecy is bs, religion is bad
Revisado: 04-17-25
I started this series curious about the first book, shocked by how bad the second one was and confused at how a 3rd book could bridge the gap between the two. Spoiler it doesn't. Certainly there are answers here a conclusion even, certainly this is a book, but a coherent story it is not. if you've been frustrated with the inanity of the characters it doesn't get better. To understand things you must first contextualize what this book is not. it's not epic fantasy, it's not about characters and their journey or growth or any of the themes you might expect. It's not about a deep world with culture and history with real people living lives in this world. This title is anti-trope, anti-religion closer to a play than a real narrative. The plot and characters are set pieces with no depth. if that appeals to you you may have a better time with this work than I did. For those of you who thought the first book hinted at the possibility of hidden depths or are curious about where the story goes don't waste your time or money.

Historia
Welcome to the Five Isles, where war has come in the name of the invading army of Sor Sevier, a merciless host driven by the prophetic fervor of the Angel Prince, Aeros, toward the last unconquered kingdom of Gul Kana. Yet Gault, one of the elite Knights Archaic of Sor Sevier, is growing disillusioned by the crusade he is at the vanguard of just as it embarks on his Lord Aeros' greatest triumph. While the eldest son of the fallen king of Gul Kana now reigns in ever increasing paranoid isolationism, his two sisters seek their own paths.

Meandering, meaningless and lost
Revisado: 03-26-25
This is oddly well written for a story that wanders all over the place with no real delivery on any particular plot point. it gets oddly horny in places and the characters are largely unlikeable, stupid or both. Again the technical detail of the writing isn't bad but none of the pieces come together and I'm left wondering what was the point.

Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

the relationship dynamics while well intended can be grating for certain readers. However I believe the author is building to something meaningful and do not begrudge the time spent on it at this moment. looking forward to the next story of the window puncher.

Historia
On a typical day, on an average train platform, two warring sister goddesses found their avatars. One avatar, the young Yoshi, was swept away to the world of Ephemera to be a great hero of honor, courage, and light. The other, the not-so-young Seiji, was swept away to become a dark lord out to kill or conquer all in his path. But Seiji is in absolutely no mood for that nonsense. It's bad enough that on Earth he was a closed-off, misanthropic grouch with zero patience for other people. Now he's supposed to muster enough of a give-a-damn to lead vile hordes?

Boring and Inept
Revisado: 07-02-24
the protagonist is cringe, the story is told through a very gender focused lens. these two things aren't bad but the story fails to come together in a satisfying or enjoyable manner with its focus of these elements. The performer doesn't handle the weeb slang very well and that just makes it land even worse. There's very little to like about the protagonist and while that's the point, he fails to be compelling through his actions, dialogue, inner monologue or consequences. To quote "what's it's gonna be another mean comment or sullen silence?" you can put him in a box rather easily. The plot fails to coalesce into something entertaining or intriguing. He creates an army of sex workers and they are all female and disenfranchised and boring. There's no character or depth, they are a bludgeon and are welded as such in the plot. Was really hoping for something more than what I got here. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Another solid entry into the series
Revisado: 04-11-24
this has quickly become one of my favorite series. Seeing all the characters grow from how they initially struggled is great. I'm a bit concerned about where the MC will go from here but if handled right I think we're in for some very compelling story telling to watch him struggle with he has become and what he's doing should be neat
