Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Overall a good listen. Wish they could keep their politics out, but today’s writers are not skilled enough to do that.

King is masterful as always
Revisado: 03-14-21
An enthralling story as King always delivers. Borrowed concepts from other stories and recycled from his own stuff as well. King has really lost touch with the real world but even his bad stuff is entertaining. Glad he kept his political views out of this one as no one wants to hear the political rants of a man whose been in his own bubble for 50 years.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Historia
Xenophobia is set in Malawi, Africa, with US soldiers acting as peacekeepers to stop a civil war erupting. When an alien spacecraft arrives in orbit, America is thrown into turmoil and US troops are withdrawn from hotspots around the globe to provide support at home. Malawi descends into chaos. Xenophobia follows a band of US Rangers that stay behind to get doctors and patients from an outlying field hospital to safety. When hundreds of alien spacecraft begin flying overhead, the dynamics of war take on an entirely new dimension.

extremely MEH with a great performance
Revisado: 01-29-15
I really like and appreciate when a story is 'performed' versus just read aloud. I do like just read aloud as well. this was a great job of performing the book. They story on the other hand...(spoilers follow)
Extremely bland scifi. Felt like it was 'science for dummies'. If you are technical and science minded (or a big time scifi fan), this story is borderline insulting in how everything is explained way too much. Maybe good as scifi 'lite'. If you've ever enjoyed Pournelle and Niven, you'll be bored by this. The main female character is just annoying and hardly believable in the setting. Maybe just a little too idealistic and the author makes no attempt to hide his effort to shove his agenda down the readers throat. Saves me the trouble of reading more Cawdon for sure.

Historia
Angelo Marchetti is dead. However, death is not the end for the mafia hitman, but rather a doorway into a harsh frontier otherwise known as the Wasteland. Armed with just his Elitario training and signature tools of the killing trade known as Thunder and Lightning, he must confront the forces of darkness in order to survive.Lost upon the flat tundra of a frozen wilderness, he traverses the barren plateau until he finds a small ghost-like-town named “Boondocks.”

not bad, not remarkable
Revisado: 01-06-13
One thing that struck me right away was that Crews left no adjective or cliche unused in this book! I almost turned it off in the first hour as every line sounds so verbose. The story did hook me a little and then I got into it. I can't say that I enjoyed it as much as I just followed it. Sure seems that Crews is highly influenced by Stephen Kings Gunslinger in where this story is going, certainly not saying it is anywhere in the ballpark with the Dark Tower series.
Really good books I will listen to twice, I certainly won't do that here.

This is a good read. I read (listened) to it twice. There are a lot of small details that I picked up second time through.
I know this book has a powerful message and in the end, made me hungry. I sure didn't make me a vegetarian. I am not easily swayed.

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

I took a 10 year break from Stephen King
Revisado: 03-05-10
I took a 10 year break from Stephen King and was completely surprised at how predictable this story was. I'm not sure how King stories over the last 10 years have gone, but this one seemed to be a template for King stories. Same characters good and bad with same results. An interesting premise and the story held me. Overall a real dissapointment that is was a cookie cuter King story.

Great story, great narration
Revisado: 09-01-09
I haven't listened to 800+ audio books, but I have listened to a lot of audio books read by the author. When done so, it is always the best reading as nobody conveys the ideas of the author better. Sigler does a good job of 'performing' the book for the audience. Good story, lots of action.
