On teaching empathy, hope, and friends...

While listening to this book I reflected on the entire series of Wings of Fire. Both my daughter and I love these books, but I also see them teaching my autistic daughter empathy towards others and herself, hope for the future, the value of friends, and for the preteens the awkward beginning of love. Each of these books takes the perspective of one dragon at a time and shows everyday struggles...lack of confidence, overconfidence, bossing, the inner quiet, and many other qualities and vices one can have. Each charicter is portrayed with good and lesser desired qualities as they struggle through the role that is theirs in each series.

The lost Continent is another great addition to The Wings of Fire series. If you are new to the series this is a great place to start as this book can stand alone from the rest with just enough backstory that you have a sense of the charicters mentioned from previous books. The main charicter is Blue, who loves to follow rules without questioning them and he always sees the good in those who are taking advantage of him. This book is his journey in discovering what rules really matter, are universal, and how to weigh two equally good rules when you have to choose following one and breaking another. He has great love and devotion to his family and makes new friends along the way.

Great book and I can't wait for the next book!!!!!

So Slow

So painfully slow even on high read speed I could not get past the first few sections. Topic was appealing to me, but just so slow speaker.
